I plan on going to the worlds this year only they are in Argentina, not Thailand!

Cool video - If you were racing like in the video, i would drop the car SIGNIFICANTLY - say around 20 - 22 mm (or basically back the shocks right out)

I would also go to the short Ackerman, the stock steering set up (no inclined) and put thicker fluid in the center diff. Harder sway bars and stiffer springs in the front!!

Hope this helps!!

Thanks, I will try that for this weekend, also I have the smart diff for the center and the front, do you run both or just one at a time? and what springs do you like the best? oops, it is the sedan on road worlds, my friend Barry Nguyen (team x-ray driver) will be racing there, do they have any off road events this year in Asia that you will be attending?

Have never raced in Asia - I hope to soon!!!

I use the smart diff as a tuning aid.

I generally run it on very blown out, rough tracks so for your purposes I would think you are better with the stock diffs. My .02 cents

Well when you come this way, let me know! If you ever actually come to Vietnam or would like to let me know and I can send you a local schedule, they usually have about 1 race a month near Ho Chi Minh City, either off road or on road, if you look at the website in my previous link you can see other videos and their schedules. Thanks for the advice on the smart diffs, most tracks in Vietnam are blown out so when I run on road I will change them up. Thanks again!

One thing to always keep in mind is if someone has beat a team driver to a reasonable answer, we arent going to also answer. There would be no need at that point.

This is a typical track in Vietnam, would you run the smart diff in this situation? then would you run both front and center or just one or the other? I was running both front and center and it seemed better for me when running, at times when I didn't get traction on hard throttle it would get loose a bit but for the most part it seemed better, however I had never ran this track before so I don't have a base line to go off of. Also what springs for the smart diffs would you run I have the stock ones in

Watching the video it seems to me tires are the most important tuning tool. The track does not look blown out so I would say no start with the standard diffs

5,000 Front
7,000 Middle
2,000 Rear

Then I would experiment with smart diff in the center (2 springs) and see what you are more consistent with.

Good luck!!

Ok thanks for the advice I will try it out and see about the difference. I got the inclined spindles and for after the on road race, but with those being 12 degrees will I still set my camber at -1? I can't seem to find any new set up sheets that show they run the inclined spindles so I am wondering if I take it back to -1 isn't that defeating the purpose? What about a fuel cooler, I have one but it looks like crap have it zip tied to keep from moving back and forth, thinking about trying to get it under the air filter but there isn't much room there either. How important would the aluminum center diff case be or is the stock one okay? They say better access to the center diff so if I am going from smart to standard it sounds like it might make more sense to have it. One final question, when driving on road I use the same servos this way I don't have to have multiple spares and one will do the job, with my on road car I use high speed Orion servos, with my buggy I have high torque Orion servos and I just bought 2 Futaba bls 452's for my Truggy, the Orion has more torque than the Futaba so would you put the Futaba on the buggy as it is a bit faster? I know the speed should be almost unnoticeable but with more torque wouldn't it be better those were on the truggy?

I run the inclined 10 degrees on bigger sweeping tracks. I am not sure why but I always run the stock camber regardless of the spindle set up, just works for me.

I run the alum center diff, I like how free my drivetrain is with it. Not a necessity by any means, many other guys i run with do not run it. Be careful setting it up, as it is easy to build it backwards.

Servos - More torque - add to the truggy!! (however I run the same servos Bug or Trug) I run either the JR's or the Spektrums
