Hello all,
I've been running a xcelorin sensored system with a 6,5 turns motor for quite some time now. I only race at closed tracks, I like the excelorin combo but there is 1 thing I can't get to grips with.
Every once in a while it won't brake, I approach a corner, tap the brake and.....nothing!
This happens completely random, I checked the settings, hooked it up to my PC and all seems well. I've reset the ESC a number of times but the same problem keeps popping up. It is not a big issue but I would really like this problem to be sorted out.
Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

That seems odd? Never had an issue with the brakes on my speedos' No brake fade either.
You say you are just taping the brakes? Is the track smooth so you know the tires are on the ground? Do the brakes work in the next corner or are they gone for the rest of the run? Just trying to figure out the whole nature of the problem.

Hansie,
Have you tried recalibrating the ESC to the radio? What kind of radio are you running? Can you and/or have you adjusted the end points for the throttle/brake?

Hello all,
I'm running a Sanwa Gemini II radio, I have recalibrated the radio to the speedo several times.
I can adjust the endpoints and have done so a couple of times.
The tires were touching the ground when I noticed the break failure.
I also run a couple of LRP speedo's and this particular glitch only happens with the
Losi speedo. I really have no idea why this happens.
It happens sometimes when I have to brake hard and it sometimes happens when I tap the brake in order to get the back of the car around a corner.
And the brakes work fine the next corner, It happens maybe once or twice a day and on a day I race about 10 packs with the car thaty has the Losi speedo.
Thanks for the input so far!
Greetings

maybe I will stick with LRP, I was thinkin about trying the xcelorin stuff, but not if the brakes fail. has anyone else had this problem, or is this just an isolated incident?

This is the first I have heard of the issue. The Xcelorin speedo's and motors have been top notch so far. No chronic issues that I have been made aware of.
How old is the speedo. Does it have the latest firmware on it? The latest firmware updated the breaks on the speedos. IT was not due to intermittent brakes but increased the brake force. This might help you situation though? Brian should be able to help you identify the firmware if you don't know how.

Hello all,
The speedo is about 7 months old and I have never updated the firmware.
So that might be a good idea to try.
I really like the speedo's performance and the easy of setting it up, but it would be really nice to get this sorted out.
I'm gonna figure out how to update the firmware and let you guys know how it went.
1 question pops into my head as I'm typing this, I have the original firmware right now, do I have to install all previous versions in chronological order to get the latest version working or can I just upload the newest version?

Hansie,
I would definitely recommend updating your firmware to D01012901.LSC. You can find the firmware here:
http://www.losi.com/Content/Support/Xcelorin%20files/LOSB9500%20firmware/D01012901.LSC.
Also make sure that you are using Version 2.0 of the PC Setup Software. The download is located here:
http://www.losi.com/Content/Support/Xcelorin%20files/Xcelorin%20Setup%20Program/Setup%20Software%20V2.0/SetupV2.exe.
You do not have to load each subsequent update to get the current version. Just download the latest version and update your firmware with the PC Setup Software.
Let me know if that doesn't solve your problem.
Thanks,
Brian

Hello
I've just updated my ESC.
I had to rename the file to D11012901.LSC otherwise I couldn't open it.
After that I was able to update my firmware, I now have version something.29 on it.
Tomorrow (or maybe tonight) I'm gonna test the ESC in a 2WD buggy, thanks for the input so far!

Hello all,
I just tried out the speedo with the new firmware.
To be on the safe side I also recalibrated my radio to the speedo.
After I played around with the end point settings I came up with a good brake setting.
I didn't have a single break failure, so I'm hoping this fixed my problem.
I won't be sure until I have raced it some more, but the first impression was good.
I still don't understand what could have caused my initial problems but who cares right?
Thanks for the input!

Hello all,
I've ran the ESC 20 times now and not a single glitch.
Now it's working so well I might consider the mid motor conversion
for the XXX-Cr from atomic carbon since you need a ESC that can reverse it's rotation.

How smooth are Xcelorin systems ? I've been hearing that the team drivers of Losi are stuck running these systems and are very unhappy, due to the light-switch throttle response. Does this hold any truth ?
