hey everyone i just bought a new lcc a couple days ago. i took out of the box and noticed that the driver side rear axle moves out about a .5 in.. while out the wheel free spins and if i rotate the wheel the axle will mesh with the gears again and go back in. Any ideas as what is the problem. can i fix it or should i just return it to the hobby shop i bought it from and get a new one. Also i heard of some of the earlier lcc's having problems with cvds or something else, i have #706 does my crawler fall in that range. any help is appreciated thanks

Sounds like the rear hub assembly isn't tight.
Pull the wheel off and see if you can push the plastic part that fits over the end of the axle, in toward the center. It may take a wiggle to two. You should be able to compare one side to the other.
Judging by what you have written, I don't think you have a major malfunction. The axle problem was with the right front axle only. There was a milling error with the inner shaft.
I think they have fixed that problem with the new ones If ya found an old one, Losi will ship the correct replacement parts. They are awesome to deal with....great folks at Losi!
Spend some time getting to know your LCC. Pull the axles apart and carefully count the shims on each side of the worm spool. It should have one on each side between the spool and the bearing. The factory ships them with two sometimes. Also check the shims on the worm pinion. There should be 3 on each side.
All the shims are thin and stick together so take your time when counting them.
Also make sure the teeth on the spool angle down from left to right. (Its only a slight angle)
Once all that is done, pack the gears FULL of grease and reassemble the axles.
The gears have nowhere near enough lubricant from the factory. I use a good quality grease, same as I use on my 1:1 crawler. It doesn't need to be anything expensive or exotic. Lucas Red and Tacky seems to be popular.
The axles require regular maintenance if you want the gears to last. The easiest way to tell when they need attention is when the driveshaft yoke (the one connected to the pinion gear) starts to run warm.
The gears turn at an amazing speed and will sling the grease off of them.
It takes a few hours of work getting it ready, but once it is done and you go crawling, it will be all worth it.
The Comp Crawler (with a good setup) is an awesome crawler and a blast to run.
Enjoy!!

It sounds like the aluminum axle spacer is missing. Please call our customer support line and let them know that you are missing the LOSA3185
http://www.losi.com/Products/Features.aspx?ProdId=LOSA3185

I'm 99% sure that is the problem.

thanks guys for your help i will definitely take apart the axles to check them out and give it a good lube job before i start running it.

i took apart the one side that was giving me problems and you were right im missing that axle spacer A3184 and im also missing one of the bearings that go before the spacer, part A6937. hopefully ill have enough time to give support a call tomorrow so i can get this thing crawling.

Thanks again
