got my new strike thursday 10/01/2009. put it on track ran two laps smoked motor burned up I mean bad right off the bat. Got looking at it and found both dog bones bent right out of the box. I have owned several losi products and had no complaints. I almost could not wait to get it we race spect class short course slash and sc10 great trucks for what they are the strike is a good truck with some bad parts from the factory. If I put my brushless in this truck it would fly apart as far as the drive train I just wonder if losi would stand behind this oversite. I love losi products and would like to buy more.I own 2 losi eight e buggys and love them. Dissapointed in kentucky

bigddl... sorry to hear that you have had some bad luck. Losi has always been great at standing behind thier products. I as well just recently got into a strike and did not seem to experience the same issue that you have. I would contact Losi and I am sure they will help make things right. I have run close to 10 packs through the stock motor at this point on a 7.4 lipo with no problems. Hope you have better results in the next go around.

I have the same problem with the dog bones. The tie rods broke extremely easy. and the plastic part at the bottom of the shock shaft broke. I was not hard on this truck at all. Normal race conditions. I have not got on the track without breaking something. All the seals on the bottom of the shock came out and drained all the oil out. I love losi products but this is the worst rc truck I have ever bought. I'm sorry to say that but I'm tired of breaking stuff.

Either I'm lucky or you got a bad batch of parts on your Strike, because although I've had electronics issues, I have had ZERO mechanical ones -- my Strike runs, jumps, handles well enough to compete with the Slash's and SC10's at the local track once I get the other issues taken care of... Your shock issues are really strange, because these shocks (just like those on the Slider) are some of the best shocks out there -- my Slider shocks have never been rebuilt, even after a year of hard weekly racing, and the ones on my Strike are just as smooth. Yours may have been a "monday morning" build (hungover worker) -- I doubt it's a design issue...

I encourage you to contact LOSI Support and tell them about each of your issues. Be polite, and clearly describe what happened and how -- trust me -- they are working on the issues, but they need to know all the factors to help diagnose the problems and separate "user error" from "quality control" issues, etc... I still believe that there may have just been some bad parts batches that affected some (not ALL) of the Strikes... LOSI worked hard to improve the Slider sprint car, with electronics upgrades, etc. -- they will do whatever it takes to get the Strike to measure up...

How often do you ramp your slider?

How often do you ramp your slider?

No ramps on a dirt oval...

Our local indoor offroad track has a racing line of about 450', includes 3 sets of doubles, two big table tops, various smaller single jumps, and a 10' high plywood quarter pipe 180 degree wall turn... After 3 practice sessions with my Strike, not a single shock problem -- not even a hint of a leak.
You can see the track in this video of last week's Expert 13.5 Stadium Truck A-Main:

What size are the ramps on your track? (You had posted your problems happened under "Normal race conditions", so I assume your comment about ramps implies you have ramps on your track...?)

I don't think Losi has ever had this big of a problem in the 20 years or so they been around. I'm sure this is new to them and is very trying as they can't always control the quality when things are made over seas.

I think the best thing Losi could do is have Horizon recall the Strike kits. When the new retro parts are all in then have the new updated parts put on the Strikes. Repackage the kits and then put some sort of gold seal or visual notice that can be seen on the Strike box to indicate this is an updated kit and then send them back to dealers. I think this would really help everyone out in this situation and go a long way in making Losi/Horizon look good with this tough situation.

I'm sure the original test kits where fine but when you are making a cheap RTR that is made from you know who problems can easily happen and by the time you find out thousands of kits have been sold. You go back on the company that made to try to recoup your loss but the consumer should be taken care of as they did nothing wrong. I do know on the other side that some customers will trash any thing no matter how bullet proof something is. When you make a RTR kit for bashing if you think its strong enough then you double that strength and you might have something for the public that takes a beating like the Slash. Knock all you want but is is easily the best selling RTR SCT out and the strongest overall. Homework was done when this kit was made.

I remember when Tamiya did this with the Jugernaut Monster truck kit many years back when they had a design flaw that would let the gears strip in like 1 battery pack. Also had gear issues and they needed to be redone and made harder.

I can see if everyone had these problems to have a recall but it isn`t an issue with everyone that purchased a Strike . This is the first time Losi has had a problem like this and they can`t snap their fingers and make everything better . They are learning to make everything better and to find the source of the problem . Yes , the customers did nothing wrong but need to understand from Losi`s side of the problem .
