I recently purchased some new 1/8 white wheels with the intention of dying them a new colour.

I looked on youtube to see how it was done. After watching a few vids I thought I'd give it a go lol

I used one of the mrs saucepans :) filled it with water, got it boiling, poured in the "Rit Dye Fabric Powder Golden Yellow" I gave it a good stir, popped in the 4 wheels. After about 15-20 minutes....................hey presto new coloured rims.

I think they look awesome, just gotta glue some tyres then I'm away!! :)

Has anyone done this? :p

you can use this method to dye any plastic parts that are white on any car. Some plastics will accept it better than others. The darker colors are the hardest and dont seem to work well on wheels because after a few runs they get scratches exposing the white underneath and look kinda off.
just make sure anything you dye is EXTREMELY clean and its easy to give your vehicle new life 8)

I have dyed a couple sets of tires and a wing now. If you use just regular elmers glue (put on thick and allowed to dry) you can add some "graphics". The dye will not permiate through the glue and leave the plastic underneath it white. If you re-dye after doing this you will get a shadowed effect. If you put the glue on too thin, well, it just doesn't look good and gives you an odd color. Examples of each below.
