Hey guys,

Here is a thread to talk about losi tires for off-road nitro. Here we can discuss what tread patterns and compounds work well on different types of tracks and surfaces.

Any idea when we will see the green's pre-glued - I know I am lame and should glue my tires! But .............................

No blame here. Glueing 8th scale tires sucks. If you prep everyting right getting a good bond is pretty easy but pre glues are pretty nice. I am sure it will be soon.

I have glueing down, however I am just lazy and if I have spare time at the races I am to busy talking or eating to sit and glue tires! LOL

The new green compond tires are awsome. everywhere that i used to run the proline m3 i now run the losi green and in my opinion have more grip and better wear....

I had the chance to run the xbt/eclipse combo this weekend for the rc pro midsouth final race. They worked great and I look forward to using them 100% in the future!

Hey guys all the way from Alabama!!!

was wondering what tires are best for clay tracks that are somewhat smooth but wet at times? and do most people run diffrent tires on the front and back for better cornering?

sounds like you need to try the king pin and reptile. We do run the "ebt" combo which is xbt front and eclipse rear. If you run indoor you might like taper pins

I run at Savannah and this is what I usually run.

Red Eclipse or XBT/Eclipse combo, I know this is a "losi" tire thread but I also like running M3 Holeshots when the track blue grooves, might have to run King Pin or Reptiles soon :D

I haven't gotten to try any of the other tires or the green compound yet but I will be when I can get some.

Hi,

could someone please post the compound colors to degrees of hardness e.g. green=soft??
thanks.

Here are all the compounds from softest to hardest made by losi.

Green.....Softest
White.....
Red........
Pink.......
Blue.......
Silver.....
Violet.....Hardest

However, white and violet are not used for 1/8th offroad. Here are the 1/8th tire compounds:

Green.....Soft(M3)
Red........Med/Soft
Blue.......Med/Hard
Silver.....Hard(M2)

Pink is a special indoor/clay compound that is hard to compare.

thats good source gram there. iv almost dumped all my tyres and went total losi. they wear great and do there job and seem consistant. just the pre mounts are inconsistant, like one per pair will rip off after 2 laps and the other will last the day with no prob lol

In my opinion premounts are never as reliable as gluing your own tires no matter what company they're from. Depending on the way the tires are molded they will usually have some oils or something on them and that hurts the glue bond. Plus, you don't have the option to run different inserts which can make a huge difference depending on the track. ;)

clint,

what insets do you usually use for your losi tires???

red eclipse for be exact....

Mr. Losi: I always run the losi yellow inserts or the OFNA yellow inserts(pretty much the same as the losi ones).

are losi going to change the foam that comes stock with the xtb's and xtt's?
all the new range of tires come with the moulded foams so it would make sence

Losi does have plans for new truggy tires in the future but no date is set for the release. As for the current tires I do not believe there will be any running changes concerning the inserts.

I am 99% sure that the truggy reptiles and eclipses are discontinued. I know they were made by GRP and their facotry burned down.

Ran Eclipse last night in red compound at my local track and they were by far the best tire I have every run there. More traction and better wear then the prolines that I have run previous there. Deffinetly looking foward to more success with them in the future.

If you're talking about buggy Eclipse, then I agree. I am very impressed with the handling and the wear on them.

With the tracks and surfaces we have over here I only need two tires. XBT's for when it's moist and tacky, and Eclipse for when it's dry and dusty.

I really like the kingpins in red for most days then switch to taper pins in silver when it gets really grooved out. I might try mixing them this weekend for a little more steering under acceleration.
