I need some battery advice and I am hoping some of you can give me some opinions. To make a long story short, I have been away from RC for a while and am almost finished with my XXX-T CR kit. I was planning on just running a Nimh pack for safety reasons but now I am reconsidering Lipo packs. My primary concern is safety. I have four children under the age of 6 and don't want anything really dangerous around them. How safe are Lipos? Can I store a Lipo in the house if I use a Lipo Pouch and keep it inside a crock pot? Or, does it need to be in the garage? My garage is separated from my house and it has a thick concrete floor. However, it's not insulated and temps in the summer regularly reach over 100 degrees. Winter temps can be as low as the 30's. Would this pose a problem for storage in the garage?
I am meticulous with my gear and take very good care of everything I own, so I am not worried about following the correct charging/discharging/balancing procedures. Based on my info and situation, would you recommend a Lipo, or should I just stick with Nimh batteries until something safer comes along? Thanks!
