I just painted a new 1/8 late model body, and there does not seem to be any protective film on it!!! There is a sticker on the body that says there is, but I can't seem to find anything to peel off!!! There is overspray on the body and sharpie marker from my design and now due to false advertisement I need to find a way to get it off!! Thanks a lot!
Anybody else??

I would try a Plastic-Safe motor spray such as Performance Plus 3, it will take off the sharpie for sure, depends on type of paint how well it will work; Faskolor will come off easier than Pactra.

sharpie marker will come off if you use a dry erase maker and wright over it then wipe off the dry erase. not many pepole know but i use it all the time.

Mine didn't either, lucky I caught it before I painted it. But it was scratched petty good for being new. Where did you buy yours from?

e-mail the comany who made the body and ask for reimbursment of all materials wasted on it.

I bought it from my local hobby store.

I got most of the paint off but yeah, mine is scratched too. Normally It's not that huge of a deal If I would have known before hand, but $55 bucks for a freaking body and no overspray film?? Come on.

My late model body had no film or sticker. And yes it was scratched, but the colors I use won't show them too bad.....see avatar.

Please advise if this is a LOSA8096 or LOSA8096T (trimmed for the L8IGHT) body. Is the outer surface real shinny and glasslike? If not and if it feels a little slick the film is still on the body. When they punch or trim the bodies it almost seals the edges and without any air under the film it looks like part of the lexan. I would suggest using an x-acto knife at an area that will trimmed off or at a cut edge and see if you can get underneath the film. After you once get it started the film will come of relatively easy. I have not seen any bodies without the overspray material but to remove sharpie ink and overspray you can use Iso-Propal alcohol or Nitrotec spray cleaner. If you have stubborn stuff to remove make a mixture of 25% lacquer thinner & 75% Iso-propal alcohol (1 part thinner to 3 parts alcohol).

I can honestly say that there was no clear film on the body that I bought. I still have the trim if anybody is interested.

Hey Gary, I got the 8096 and there was no wrap on it, I double checked just to make sure. I got the body from nitro house.

Gary is right on with the removal of any overspray or sharpie marker. This will work great. I have also used another brand of "Body Wax" and also WD40 in the past. I would try not to get in on the inside (painted part) of the body as it will start to remove the paint there as well.

Paint on!!

We are looking into this. It may be that some in the middle of a batch did not have this. For years we all used bodies that didn't have this film and didn't have scratchs but if you should get one that is not acceptable by all means do not paint it. Call losi customer service and they will exchange it for you.
Personally, my bodies get so scared up after the first 15 minutes of use you wouldn't believe it was ever nice!
I use the drive by sound method..... wait for the thud of the wall or the boom of it bouncing of another car. LOL

The last two pre trimmed bodies I have purchased did not have film on them either. IMO the body that came in my L8 kit was of overall better quality than the replacements I bought.

We have checked all of our inventory and found that a few of the un-trimmed bodies do not have film. These have been removed from stock and will be used by me! Yea I go thru a lot of bodies Booda-boom, Bodda-bang! All of the pre-trimmed bodies had the film. All of these bodies were made at the same time as the kits so there should not be any difference in the quality. Agagin if you think you have a bad body take it back before you paint it. Traditinally our bodies have been among the best and want to keep it that way. Now let's go oval racing and do the "Lexan Lambada" - who needs to watch that "Dancing with the stars" stuff?
