Is there a recommended formula to follow for matching spring rates to shock oil?

I wouldn`t think so since your springs and oil are going to change with different track conditions .

There are too many variables (i.e. Piston hole size, shock mount location, car weight, track condition, etc.) to actually be able to have a guide for what oil to use with what spring. As a very general rule of thumb if I am only changing spring and nothing else I will usually go up in oil weight (2.5-5wt) for a stiffer spring and the opposite for a softer spring. It all depends and is something you should play around with to get a feel for it.
