I am making how-to videos for the Mini Late Model and Mini-Sprint. I need to know what all you would like to see done. Here is a list that I am working on.
Bulletproofing Mini Late Model Gearbox
Bulletproofing Mini-Sprint Gearbox
Installing and Adjusting a Ball Diff
Scaling out your race car for Dirt Oval racing
I am open to any suggestions related to Mini-Sprint and Mini Late Model.
Thanks!

it might be a little difficult to show this, but maybe the effects of where wthe wings are positioned and what it does to the handling on the sprint

Really going to put my engineeing degree to the test now! Actually I have been working on an article on this point exactly.

At our track the wing position make a big difference.
I'd like to know if anyone has come up with a replacement ball cups. We keep popping them all the time. some guys are using tamiya ones but they are hard to find

Check my possible solution in other post for ball cups.
The weight of the wing obviously makes a significant impact on front and rear weight ratios. What I have setup so far is a scale table to weigh the four corners individually. This will show the static effect of weight distribution via wing placement. I will then put the same setup in my wind tunnel to show the dynamic effects of the wing on corner weights. First @ 0°, then 25°, and finally 45°. I will post my findings via the forums and a video showing my method of test and data collection. Give me a couple days to get this done.

I guess I don't understand what you are asking for. Setup help? Or what? BTW, your track looks more like Lil Martinsville than Lil Indy. :D My track is almost identical to yours in shape and length, however my track has MUCH more angle in the turns. Nice track though. I see your postings on DODC quite often. Anyways please clarify what you are asking for and we will go from there.

Yea looking for some setup help. I am way loose around the corner so I end up letting all the way off the gas and coasting so that I don't spin out. I would love to be able to stick to the turns. Also how do you feel about tire grooving? Is it needed ? What kind of grooving pattern to use. What about wing placement. Right now I have a boxed wing set up. Should I lose the right side and only have the rear and left. Maybe a Sprint car wing set up with it up on the left and down on the right?
Shock position?
Hope that helps. And thanks for your help so far.

When you say loose, is your car loose going in or coming off the turns? I will work up a setup sheet for you as what I would start out with if I were going to race at your track. It won't be perfect, but should be easily tunable. I am sure our driving styles will have some differences as well. I personally have stopped using foam tires at my track. To me foams make the cars drive more like an asphalt car. My opinion on R/C dirt oval racing is foams should be banned. But that's just my $.02. When I used to run foam tires I only ran grooves around the tire not across. Typically I would run 5 evenly spaced grooves. I used Lucas Synthetic Oil Treatment as traction compound. Wipe on. Leave for no more than 10 mins then wipe off remaining. Now that I use the Losi Tires for the MLM. Its a longer process. I start with chemically softening the compound. Once the tires get the durometer reading I want I used the Lucas Synthetic Oil Treatment again as traction compound. Wipe on and leave until dry. This gets better and better with each application. Will make the rubber nice and tacky. Next bit of advice is don't forget about your steering sensitivity adjustment. If your car is too loose you can tighten it up with this. The car won't steer as well at slower speeds, but when you are up to speed it will make a world of difference. I will start working up that setup sheet for ya now.

This is the setup I would start with and go from there. And I forgot to mention about the wing earlier. Sideboards are used to give more left side weight. This will definitely make your car tighter going in and coming off the turn. But you can get this same effect by adjusting your suspension to an extent. I would try running the car without the crazy wings first and dial it in with the chassis setup. Then if you see the need for a side board go from there. But again, I think this takes away from the sport. But if your track rules allow for it, by all means do everything that is advantageous to you and still fit within the boundaries of the track rules.

It gets loose coming in to the corner for sure. I have a set of stock tires so I will try both setups. Everyone is running foams so that's why I have a set. I will check my steering sensitivity. I never really gave that much thought but now that you mention it I will play with it. The track is open tonight so I am gonna go tonight.

If the car is too loose going in there are a couple solutions. Decrease RF spring OR Increase LF spring. Make sure the RF corner of your body is not nose diving into the track. Next is decrease your steering gain (sensitivity). Hope these tips help.

If you are running foam, you need to groove them
If your track has just a little "dust" or loose dirt, it needs a place to go "into the groves of the tire" If you run the rubber I have found that they like to be "treated" to soften up. if your car is loose, only treat the rear. I have also noticed that a worn, used tire has more grip than a new tire.
Up date us on how your car is. We will try and help you out.

need something to show how simple it is to make a backyard track to run them on... last summer using a riding mower and about $20 worth of materials to build a drag, i built a decent track to run on in a day.. bout a month ago while the ground is soft, decided to spend the weekend with a tiller, shovel, and rake and now have a really nice track.

This is what I did in my backyard. I bought a lap counter from iLaps and it works perfectly. The track is 210 feet on the centerline, 10 foot wide straights, 15 foot wide in the turns.
