I just got my 1/18 brushless ESC+Motor combo pack today (still waiting for my 9t pinion gear) and installed everything. I put a 13t pinon on just to test it out and drive around my office. It *barely* moved forward however, reverse was quite snappy - this test was under 30 seconds.

I took the pinion off, removed the motor, turned the buggy back on and gave it throttle to see how the motor responds under no stress... The motor starts off by shaking like it's out of balance then slowly whirs up to "speed" (nowhere near what I think it should be). It's quite sluggish and acts _very_ weird...

I adjusted the settings with the Losi software and it seems to make less of a fuss the more throttle limit i put on it... At 90% limit, it goes sloooow, but no shaking or anything. With 0% limit, it acts like a car that's almost out of gas, stuttering and sputtering and it never does go as fast forward as I can get it to go in reverse. At 0% throttle limit, when I slowly increase throttle, about halfway through, the motor power spins down to less than half and sometimes it will stop and just start going bzz-bzz-bzz.

Finally, it makes a weird noise -- almost like a bad bearing or something. Kind of crunchy/smooshy? The brushed (Reedy 19T modified) motor I replaced with the Xcelorin was much quieter and I was kind of expecting the opposite.

Did I get a bad motor or maybe a bad ESC? Another note, when I first connected the ESC to the computer, I upgraded the firmware and got a "read error 2010" after it was done sending, then I couldn't do anything with it until I did the "Commands > Reset to Factory Defaults" option.

I really don't want to send this back and wait for a replacement... I'm hoping it's something stupid on my part. Any help is welcome!!

Hello, Which 1/18 scale system did you purchase? Do you have a part number?

Also, what vehicle are you mounting it in? What battery are you using? Radio system?

Thanks,
Frank

Hello,

I got the 9400kv esc/motor combo pack (can't remember the part number as I've already sent it back). When I was on the phone with Horizon support, he said that the model I purchased has actually been discontinued (I think I know why :D)

I put it in a 1/18 Losi Mini Desert Buggy using the stock TeamLosi Sport 7.2v 1100 Ni-MH 6 cell pack. Radio system is losi sprktrum 2.4ghz dsm.
