I just installed the RE11 pipe on my 8ight 2.0 RTR and I was wondering what kind of performance gains I should see? I put it on, ran the car and based on how it sounded and ran at the time, I leaned the LSN and HSN 2 hours each to get it to sound and run right. It was "sputtery" when I first started running it so leaning it out made her sound nice (350 engine). I just ran some high speed passes up and down the road and it finished the tank at about 235 with the body off.

Do you remember what the temps were prior to the pipe/retune? Just curious.

RE11 will help you with Mid-Top End power. Great pipe. It's an exact copy of the OS 2050 pipe.

At the race Saturday temps were:

5 min
Heat 1: 235
Heat 2: 265 (I richened both HSN and LSN 1 hour after this)

30 min
A main: 235

So the temps stayed the same but you were able to lean it out further and pick up some power, cool.

I guess so, I haven't tried it at the track. The performance on the road didn't seem different.

Looks like it was running 235 last week and 235 now with the new pipe. If you leaned it out after the pipe that means you're making more power, the temps have stayed the same, and your run times are going up :D

Is this the pipe you would use for the 454? If the RE11 is for mid to top end, what does the RE 10 pipe do for the 454?

RE10 pipe is either an 086 or 063 can't remember which it's an exact copy of.

A lot of people will try and tell you it's a copy of the OS2060, but don't be fooled. The RE10 is no where close to a OS2060 and the only company to copy the 2060 is Mugen and their 2042 pipe set.

Not to sure on the performance gains on it though. I have ran one and seemed to get more bottom and mid range from the pipe more then anything.

I personally would run the RE11 on both 350 & 454 engines.

(im agreeing with "RJ" glad you pointed this out btw man)
re10 is NOT a copy of the os2060...put them side by side in your hand and you will see there not the same...put it on your truck tune it the best you can..then throw the 2060 on and it WONT take the same tune...

the re11 ive had this pipe and i couldnt get my motors to run like they could with my os2050 or 2060...it was just something about it that makes it a pain to tune...

a buddy of mine said he bought one ran it once and had the same probs and took it off his motor and put another pipe on and it ran fine..

(from my and another buddy's experince) re11 is NOT a os2050 copy...hold both of them in your hand and you will agin see there is a difference..and they will make your motor run alot different

i took mine off and put my os 2060 back on...

BUT RJ...QUESTION

where did you hear that the re10 was a 086 or a 063?
because i am currently looking for a 086 for my novarossi bf21(rotostart) i have in my lst2 i was told this was a match for it...and i have a dynamite 053 that it just has NOO topend at all on the nova

So can anybody else chime in on this? Does the RE 10 actually improve the bottom end of the powerband?

A local genius here in Dallas has actually measured the internal cones of the RE11 and Stinger and it matches flawlessly with a OS2050 as well as water volume displacement. When he did the test for tune match he used the header that was already on his 2050 since the 2050 was sold with 2 different headers. He didn't use the Losi header. Tune/Temps stayed the same on a OS VZ-B.

As far as the RE10 goes. I had kept hearing the RE10/2060 rumor, and was final able to catch up with Tex (local genius) and ask him personally what pipe the RE10 was most like, and he said the 063 or 086, but I can't remember as I asked him when we were getting ready for the Mains at our club race. I will ask him again when I see him to clarify.

Since it's a low to mid-end pipe I makes sense that it's a copy of the 063.

Yup.

That would be the guy. He really knows his stuff and I trust his findings over rumors that I hear all the time.

No worries just wanted to share my findings and let everyone know the extent of what was actually done to prove the RE11 to be a match to the 2050.

kool man you just kept me from selling that pipe...i may just try another header on it tho..

did they ever find out who stole there stuff?

he needs a web site laying down the knowlege for us guys seeking it lol

Here is the post that Tex wrote, this guyt is smart. In fact, he is the inventer and holds the patent for the "Halo" system that is used in paintball.

Losi RE-11 at $65.00.

The shop I run for gets new pipes in all the time. I try and test every one of them and keep them so customers know what works and what does not before they make a purchase.

I too saw the double welds. They I used a little thought and questioned if Losi had done what I thought they had done. Very popular pipe discontinued?? I would have cloned it too.

With my 2050 sitting on the table.
I first measured the entry convergence cone. Perfect match.
I then probed the positive convergence cone. With a probe the measurements were a perfect match.
I could not measure the third chamber without cutting the pipe.
I measured through the cones holes and got a perfect match for the front of the pipe's inner walls. Perfect match.
Stinger ID matched.
Water displacement volume was the same as well.

I put it on a properly tuned Vspec in my car and just switched pipes. Not headers... OS sold the 2050 with two different headers so I used the same header for both to get the pipe comparison.

No change in tune... run temp within 2 degrees... exact same run time of 11.5minutes.

I would say it is pretty close but with better finish and **** good price to boot.

Without a Dyno this is the best I can do and share. I would like to see it on a dyno though.

This is the pipe I now run all of the time. Now they need to clone the 2060.
$165.00??? Are you freaking kidding me?

Hope this helps,
TEX

Thanks Doug..

I was looking for that exact write up, but gave up on the search feature on RCTech.
