So, i want a big scale truck because they are better in some ways and i'm looking at the highroller. I have a couple questions about it. FIrst off how many volts is the esc rated for? And also what aluminum parts should i get right when i buy the truck? Thanks

First aluminum/ metal parts I would get would be the gears. I've chewed through a couple already in my HR and I've had it for about 4 mo. Next would be the dog bone drive axles. I use a NiMh and twisted one the other day. Granted that was on pavement, but still.

The other thing may be to consider oil shocks. Keep in mind that the HR is pretty much maxed out. It, in my opinion, is basically set up for 7.2 or possibly 8.4v at the most. If you plan on upgrading the ESC and/ or the motor, consider spending the extra money now to get one that comes ready to run the Lipo battery and possibly a brushless motor. The internal components will be that much stronger to handle the torque of the more powerful motor/ less resistant battery.

Just spent the last couple of days figuring out how to upgrade my High Roller to Lipos or Brushless motor and figured out I would have been better off getting a truck that was maybe $50 more to begin with. Now I am looking at about $150- $200 more to invest to get it to run Lipos. May just stick with the NiMh.

The HIGHroller comes with oil shocks. And there are some stronger dogbones that HPI makes that work on the HIGHroller.

Hello found out already that these Losi CV-Driveshaft Set: HRL, SCT LOSB3589 should be alot stronger then the original ones. So I ordered those.

I couldn't tell ya a part number. Apparently the answer is in the youtube video "HIGHroller TRX edition"

I just read it on another forum.

i have had mine for awile as well and have upgraded the idler gear in the tranny only to aluminum. other than that nothing else has been done. been a great truck for my sons to learn on. but now, low and behold, i was told i could run a 8.4v battery and guess what? the esc melts!!! so now i am looking for another one to replace. i spent 170 on the truck and got a couple parts i thought i might need down the road and it came to 120 bucks and now an esc which is 59 bucks. could have just bought another truck!! like was said above, should have gone with a more expensive truck to begin with.

hi all, ive had my high roller now since last christmas and it seems to be ok, i did swap to the alum idler gear a week or two after buying it, i do find it really slow in stock form, the new strike gearbox looks the same, could anyone confirm if they are indeed the same, was looking at getting the steel gears, also can anyone confirm the cvd's mentioned above do fit the high roller as it does'nt state it as a option. i plan to put a ezrun 8.5t bl set in it and wanting to make sure it can take it.

hopefully u dont buy the same esc i think theyre garbage. mine melted with normal 7.2v use. the traxxass xl5 would be a good choice and its water proof and can handle 7cell and I think 8cell
