So I have been trying the center smart diff now for about a month. I have tried different combinations of springs and so forth. I am now trying to use diff oils however, the diff does not seem to unlock. What's happening inside that diff when running oils???

onerollin1- You can use silicone fluid in the smartdiff, but I prefer to use grease. Silicone fluid will make the diff very violent when it engages.

Adam Congrats on your marrige!!!
When i run smart diff in center of truggy what spring set up should i use? I also have a front that i dont use. Is their a different spring set-up for the front also? What other set-up changes should i make when running one or both? Also how about same questions with buggy?
Thanks Ronnie

REM578- Thanks! I run two .15 springs with 2.75 coils cut off when running the smartdiff in the center of buggy and truck. I don't use the smartdiff in the front much, but when I do I use four .15 springs with 2.75 coils cut of the spring.

Thanks for a quick response... Do you ever change any thing elese as far as set-up when running smart diff? Like thicker front or rear diff fluid? Thanks again

Hi Adam,
Help! been having this problem with the smart diff center 8t 2.0
Setup 7K front SD rear 5K with 2 .20 springs installed. Problem my front tires balloon like pancakes. Prior setup was stock roller 2 .15 spring same problem. I just did a complete rebuild changed all bearing to AVID and everything spins freely is this a common problem and suggestions.

Adam,
What is your reasoning for cutting the springs shorter? Also, why are you only using two springs when you run the center SD? Do you have a length in MM that the springs should be when cut? When your only running two springs, I'm guessing you have one spring on each side to balance it out? Thanks

REM578- I usually keep the rest of the set-up the same.
bigjayjay1- It sounds like you don't have enough grease in the center diff.
Ryno 67- Try running the shim between the o-ring and the pin and make sure you pack the diff with grease.
400units- Running the spring short allow the diff to engage sooner and smoother. I run two springs to decrease the spring rate which also makes the diff smoother. Yes, I run one spring on each side to balance out the diff.

When you cut the spring do you do anything to the end so it lays flat, or do you just leave it as cut, so te preasure is at the one point?

Silver- I just cut the springs. I don't bend the ends flat.

What is 2.75 ?? Inches ? mm ?
Is it right saying that you cut the coil at its 3/4 of total lenght and the reamaining 3/4 fits inside the smart diff ? So basically the 1/4 ramaining coil will be recycled bin ?
thanks
i think what he means by 2.75 is the number of coils..not mm or inches. Actually count 2 and 3/4 of a coil loop of the spring.

My central smart diff came 1mm larger than the stock one, from bearing to bearing.
This way the central turret is messed up due to the higher distance between bearings......how did you fix the issue ?
Thanks
