i just received my losi electric conversion kit for my 8ight -T 2.0 and noticed the center diff gear was plastic and the part number on the sheet says it should be a metal gear?? was that a mistake on losi??

This came to my attention after driving my car for about 3 laps and heard my gear slipping need less to say that gear is no more. i checked my gear mesh and made sure everything was good before driving. this same issue happened to a friend at the local track and he said to use a hardened metal pinion gear with a metal spur gear.

any help on this topic will be apreciated...

The electric car comes with and uses a plastic gear. It is much quiter then the metal gear. Take out the rear motor support (little wedge supporting the rear of the motor) off an your stripped gears should become a thing of the past. You can run a metal spur but you need to run the smallest metal gear (46) as there is not a lot of room since the diff is flipped around for the electric conversion. I would take out the wedge and give the pastic a try again.
