Hi, I have a 1990 JRX Pro with what appears to be a basic motor. I have no idea what it is but it appears to just a be a basic silver motor that was nothing special. Maybe a 20 turn? I don't know.
Question... What is the best option to making this buggy faster? Are there low cost brushless options? How about sticking with a brushed motor? I just want the car to be capable of moving if I ever use it. What is the best bang for the buck that will fit in my car?
Where do I buy it?
Thanks!

I don't want a $100+ Brushless set up. What can I buy for $10.00-50.00 to make this buggy capable of higher speeds? 40 MPH would be nice. Possible? I don't care about losing low end torque. Thanks!

Honestly, it depends on you ESC. The tranny can handle a lot, but in the end, your ESC will determine what you can run. If you want speed and runtime, start with a 16t....there are several manufacturers out there still making brushed motors. Orion, Epic (trinity), Reedy, Fantom, etc...just to name a few. Go with a bearing motor...they will last longer. Lower turn motors (12t and less) will demand a lot more maintainance. A hand wound motor will be better than a machine wind, but they cost more. A single will have more "abrupt" torgue and high speed, a triple will be smoother (more linear, predictable) power curve and a double is in betweem. Personally, I always liked doubles....but for a loose, slippery track I liked quads....very smooth power delivery. Hope this helps
