Hiya Guys,

1st post on the Losi Forum so be gentle :D

I currntly race the Losi 2.0 Nitro Buggy buy i am looking at now trying out for the Electric Version.

I was thinking of getting the Losi 2.0 Race Roler and Converting it to an E as i would like to put my own gear together.

I am looking for some advice on what Motor, ESC and Batteries i should use.
Im looking for a setup that would be a similar comparison to the Nitro Engine speeds etc.
I presume the throttle & Breaking would be different, can you advice on this too ?

So my questions i ask are :

What Motor to get
What Batteries to Get
What ESC to use

Also finally i have been reading alot about the Smart Diff.
Is this worth the extra and does it make a big difference in handeling in the 8ight-E ?

Thanks guys and Welcome
Ben

there are pros and cons of elecrtirc vs nitro

electric is much faster, quieter , and cleaner
but very expensive, more of a fire hazard, ecs's tend to go up in smoke all of a sudden
for little or no reason. batteries can turn your rc car into a raging inferno (BIG FIREBALL)

the 1/10 elecrtics seem to be less of a problem for some reason, i would wait for a while to see if electric gets better.....i mean i wish i waited...i've burned up two 1/8 ecs's in a monster truck. i installed my third but have yet to install batteries and turn it on since.
speed costs money!!! it's so fast now i don't use it...2000$ dust collector

Well you don't have to make it land speed record car. There are controllable motors and you have a choice in 2S, 3S or 4S battery to control speed as well. These large cars put a huge strain on electronics due to the massive amps these things pull. The guys that are having the most success with these things are running milder motors with 3S. The car is still fast but driveable and the electronics are lasting. You go totally insane making a land missle they are hard to control and you blow up stuff. The Xcelorin stuff works pretty darn good from what I have seen. I don't drive 8th scale but have heard good things about them!

i've been running my 8-E with a Losi 4S lipo and the Xcelorin ESC with a 1700kv motor, no problems, i did break the ESC fan when it took a hard hit, but it ran fine without it. it wasn't too hot that day....

Hiya Guys.

Thanks for your reply.
I know the Electric 1/8th is still quite new and not too many people running them but still i want to try the conversion.

Im not after insane amounts of power, i would be looking for something thats a Very good all rounder, I have been looking at the Motor Kv against the Lipo Battery cells etc also the Mah output.

What im looking for is a setup that would be competitve against Nitro and a setup that will last a 20 min A Final.

Anyone got any idea's.

Seem to find the 2200Kv Motor matched with a 4Cell 5000Mah a good match running 45/15, would this last 20mins ?

Cheers
Ben :-)

Thanks for your reply, in Race Conditions, what sort of run time do you get ?

Regards
Ben

we had a Pro Series race recently on a big, fast track. 10 min mains, I had no trouble making 10mins, it could have gone a little more, if I was easier on it, i might be able to stretch it out to 15mins, the track requires a lot of throttle. last winter, indoor, small track, i could go 20mins plus.
