Well it is day two of the break in for the xxl. I got the truck tuned right so it won't die when I give it gas. Well I got a new problem and I have no clue what the problem is sooo please help. The truck gets way up in the rpm before it moves and it won't role freely until I give it gas and as soon as I let of the throttle it stops dead and won't move. Well I got it to move today but as soon as I let off the throttle the truck would stop dead until I give it major throttle then it will move I also notice one of the front tires wobbled real bad. If you have any clue what these problem could be please please let ne know. I have read the book over and over again and the closest thing I think it could be is the slipper if this is the problem or something else let me know...... thank to all...

I found out what it was. The throttle servo had its break on. I just messed with the remote and found were you can control the servos and just messed with it now it rolls free. Let me ask you guys this should it be making noise when moving it around. This is my first monster truck and the noise it makes just doesn't sound right to me it makes like a small grinding noise is this normal?????????

Yes , it will make some noise with the clutch bell and spur gears . Also your hearing the tranny gears noise when your pushing it . Shoudn`t be a grinding noise .

I don't really think its a grinding noise its kinda hard to explain what the noise really is. But it is coming from the tyranny when I push it

That is normal . You are hearing all the gears rotating when you push the truck .

Let me ask youguys this. I got the truck running and three tanks through it. But when I give it gas it still revs high as **** and then takes off but as soon as let off the gas it rolls but it takes it a few min to get it going again. Could it be the clutch. Or could it be some setting on the remote to make it move sooner. Please help me figure out what this could be. Oo I talked to the hobby shop I bought it from and he said it still needs to be broken in still is this true

Yes , needs more then three tanks to break-in . Sounds like you have a clutch issue .

If it is a clutch problem. How do I fix it. I have only started this truck like 9 time and I almost have 4 tanks in it and it idles fine and rarely dies but the moving part is were it has a problem. You can hear this radleing noise from the clutch bell and break area. I've read over and over the book and I don't see nothing. Is there something on the remote settings for the clutch. Should I take it back and have the hobby shop I bough it from have a look at it..... sorry about all the questions this is my first monster truck with two speed and the crazy remote I just need help with this truck. thanks to all

the metal brake discs will rattle around and make some noise, you can fix this by getting yourself an Indos Phenolic Brake disc from Avid bearings you'll need to use 2x metal pads and 1x losi high pro pad to get it to fit well, it's worth doing it get rid of all the noise and the brakes work awsome. As for your clutch you should remove the bell and make sure everything is all fine, check your shoes, springs and bearings. Whilst you have it all apart, give all but the bearings a good clean with Brake Cleaner. Grab the clutch bell in a rag, spray the inside with brake cleaner and use a fine grit sand paper to roughen it up a bit, then clean again with cleaner and rag. see how that all is and get a heap more fuel through it. Don't worry too much about the noisy brakes at this point, just get it broken in. Also, make sure you've used loctite on all the set screws throughout the drive train, I had the problem where they loosened at the tranny out drive cups and the truck wouldn't go anywhere, every now and the it would move, I checked the set screws and a few of them where loose enough for the shafts to spin in the cups but grab here and there, that may be your problem, check them.

Ok guys so I took off the bell housing for the clutch. There was a lil ollen wrench screw on the the smallest gear. So I put a ollen wrench on the screw and the screw was hella loose so I tighten it up until it was snug but not to tight. Would that be the problem with the truck not moving until it builds high rpm is it that screw?????? Let me know please if that screw would be the problem with the truck... thanks to all that helps me

That screw holds the clutch bell on .Remove the screw and then remove the clutch bell .

get yourself some blue loctite, it'll hold your screws in and it's still easy enough to get them back out, have you checked the setscrews in throughout the drivetrain yet?

No I have not. Do you mean the clutch and drive shafts. Or should I go farther and tear into the clutch assimbley. Let me ask you this. It's going to be a dumb question but on the big flywheel there's a lug nut on a spring. What does that do and should I tighten it down also......

thats the slipper clutch nut, you need to tighten that all the way in, but not over tight and then turn it back out one full turn, thats the stock setting for your slipper clutch. that may be all your problem. The set screws Im talking about are the ones in the tranny and diff outdrive cups.

Thanks a lot millzee. You been a big help. I'll return that after I get off work and see if that's the problem. Ooo you can see a shaft on the slipper clutch. Are you supposed to see that in-between the two gears
Update. So I got some new glow plugs today. Just like as usually the truck fired right up no problems at all. Well as soon as I gave the truck gas it died because it was so rich. Well here's the fun part have you guys ever had the charger for the receiver pack burn up. Mine did today. Let me ask you guys this tho my receiver pack was way dead but before it blew up it was on the charger for about seven min or so. My question is when my charger blew up is there a chance that it fried the receiver pack because it won't even flicker?????? Help please
