Does anyone have a solution for the center smart diff ballooning the front tires? I'm Running the stock setup which should be the most lock and its still ballooning. It feels like I am running 1,000 wt oil in the center with all the power going to the front wheels.

I run an 8T 2.0 was advised to run 20000wt in the centre diff with 7000wt in the front and 3000wt in the rear I have had no issues mind you it is a elec convert but this may help???

Thanks, but it's a smart diff not a standard diff. Judging by the lack of responses people don't know very much about these things yet??

I read on another forum that someone who incorrectly assembled their center smart diff had the same problem. I know they come already assembled, but it's possible it was put together wrong. Take it apart and make sure it's correctly reassembled. It's obviously not locking at all, so there must be something wrong in there.

I will try rebuilding it. Before I do though I would like to know more about cutting the springs or running only two of them. I haven't gotten a clear explanation of what that does. Are you running only two .15 springs that you have cut down also? When the SD does lock up, what should it feel like? Is it like a standard diff with 10,000 or 20,000??

Run only 2 springs, and make sure you pack it full of grease, as much as you can get in it. I have noticed that in extreme heat, the grease breaks down alot quicker than standard diff oils. Which means alittle more maintence (packing with fresh grease). Hope that helps

I'm running the stock setup (4 x 0.15 springs). My Smart Diff came with an instruction manual that explained what the different springs do. I had to read it several times to train my brain to think in reverse. What I mean by that is that heavier springs make the diff act like it has lighter oil, so it's the opposite of tuning with oil. If you wanted more punch (lock up), you'd use heavier oil in a standard diff, but lighter springs in the Smart Diff. Make sense? I know it sounds backwards, but read the instruction manual a few times and it will start to make sense.

400 units...Your springs are not seated properly. Take it apart and carefully re-assemble. Use a light and watch to make sure they go in their seats. They have one end larger than the other. You need to assemble the large ends into the seat so they kind of screw in. Then put the other piece with the seats on. Then pack it full of sd grease. You may want to try harder springs too. I have not found a track yet that I liked the light springs. I like the diff to disengage right away. Otherwise I push going into tight corners.
