Is it possible that the Axial .28 is too powerful for the stock Losi clutch gear? I have called up pro drivers and Axial to make sure I have everything installed correctly but there are still issues. One day it runs good, yesterday, and then today after running a tank it would just slip and then jump as if I was nailing the throttle.

Should be a great motor for any truck. I've got the same in my 8 truggy and have had no issues. When you say slipping and jumping, are you talking about the motor or the gearing? If it's the motor, I'd check the carb and link to make sure it's sliding smoothly. If it's not the motor, I'm guessing it might be the clutch. Maybe just a broken spring? Let me know if you get it figured out

The motor revs up and then the truck will lurch forward. And then after that I'll give it some throttle and it takes off no problem. With the help of Curt Schlichter and Axial I tightened the flywheel nut down even more and since I had it apart I replaced the one day old clutch shoes with new ones. The springs are tight, the shoes don't move out unless I make them. I mean it idles absolutely perfect and temps are close to what they should be. And it only did this after the first tank. The first tank it ran perfect, temps were a little cold so I leaned it out and then it started this.

How is the one-way bearing on the first gear? If it gets old it tends to skip ("feels" like the gears are skipping) Then with the addition of that killer engine - ouch!
I recommend "One-Way Bearing Lube" (from Serpent - but apparently they don't make it anymore??) Anyway, I have my LST2 for almost 4 years now and I'm only on the 2nd (or 3rd - not sure) one-way bearing, and I do alot of racing...!
