Hello, i want to go brushless with my strike but im new to this stuff. after watching some youtube videos i realized that the power difference is incredible and i will most likely have to beef up the tranny and shafts. but what about the motor? i have heard of the regular brushless esc and that there were sensored ones and vice versa with the motors. whats the difference? and ive seen 4800kv up to 7500kv motors and they all cost the same. whats better? and lastly do i need to run lipo batteries or can i use my 3000mah batteries i have stock pilled. any advice would be greatly appreciated.............plus if any buddy has any info on how to adapt the front wheel shafts so they would accept standard 1/10 sc wheels please let me know. i want those proline beaders but they will only work on the rear.

Well i'm sure the Strike comes RTR with steel diffs/etc gears. so that shouldn't be a worry there.
As for picking a brushless system,it really comes down on what you tend to use it for. Are you a speed demon dude,or just love to bash and keep the thing up and running left and right, with no worries?
If you love speed and power. Sensorless is your area, but keep a watch on the heat.
If you love bashing and no worries to deal with of over heat. Sensored. Sensored systems tend to have a protection so they won't really overheat and destroy the rotor field. unlike sensorless that will possibly overheat since they do not have the sensor that lets the ESC know if it's getting overheated.

thanks. i just want a badass dirt lot romper. i dont race really and i just like to bs with it in the desert by my house. so im guessing i should go with the sensored. but what about batteries. and what size motor would be best. i have no expierience with the brushless stuff and the guy at the hobby shop by my house is an asshole when i ask these kinds of questions.

If you don't race you really do not need a sensored system. Sensorless is fine. I'm a big fan of the Castle sidewinder 4600kv. However the Traxxas Velineon, Losi Xcelorin 4800kv, some of the various hobbywing ezrun setups would all work too. Don't go crazy on the power though.
4800kv on a 1/10 scale bashing vehicle with a lipo or 7 cell NIMH is enough or even more than you would need.
You can continue to use your 3000 NIMH batteries you currently have, though you might want to upgrade the connectors if you are using the old white ones.
Someone with more Strike experience than I (none :D) could probably comment further, but I understand there are a few other upgrades you should probably do when going brushless though.

Are you looking to just go really fast or actually race?
I think the Strike runs best for racing with a sensored 10.5T or 13.5T motor (3300 - 4000kv). You can probably get away with a 8.5T if you have some skill.
if you just want to go faster the bigger is better. Just watch your temps. Probaby look at getting a steell idler gear also.

thanks for your input. ya i just want a truck that does crazy wheelies and throws a fat roost. one that makes you giggle everytime you drive it haha. but how do you keep the heat down? just let it cool down every once in awhile or just take it easy.

Gearing is important for temperature. Follow the motor/esc recommendations and move up or down a tooth or two on the pinion to experiment. Get a set of pinion gears somewhere in the range of 15t to 23t. Not very expensive and something in that range will cover what you are going to use.
Limiting your run time is a way to avoid overheating. I make sure to let my sidewinder cool for 10-15 minutes after a run.

I just finished installing a Mamba Max Pro 4600kv in mine and boy is it stupid fast at 2/3 throttle on the street I pin it and it just spins right around into doughnuts lol.
What convinced me to buy the Mamba is all the features it has, It comes with downloadable software and you can adjust all the throttle/brake curves, and so much more., right on your PC or with the availble pocket adjuster thing.
Other features that I also took into consideration is that if you F-up your motor they sell rebuild kits for about 20-25 bucks.
Mamba Max Pro (http://www.castlecreations.com/products/mamba_max_pro.html)
The ESC comboe is listed for $229, but you can find them cheaper, I paid $199 and Ive seen as low as $179 I believe. The software and support behind Castle Creations motors/esc's is great.
I sound like I work for them but I don't lol, Just really stocked after just installing this motor/esc and taking it for a test run on the street earlier this evening :P. If I think about it Ill take a short video this weekend with the new set-up.

Hello I have a Dynamite Fuze 5800Kv brushless system in my short course truck. It is really fast!!! I think the 3300Kv would have been fast enough, but I like the extra speed:D You really have to learn to conrtroll it on the track though.
