I currently utilize both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of windows xp and the excelorin software seems ok with both versions of that operating system. I read where it is not compatible with vista 64 bit and i have tried to load it on my system running 64 bit windows 7 release candidate and it will not see the usb dongles drivers correctly. I will attempt to load it on another pc thats running a 32 bit version of windows 7 rc and see how that works and keep u all posted.
I'm hoping we will have both 32 and 64 bit support for windows 7 when it is released shortly as I will be running both variety's on my various puters here.
thanks for any help or info..

Remember 7 is based of the Vista Core, and XP is built off the old NT core. I'm not surprised that this doesn't work on Vista and 7 since it was designed to work in an XP enviroment.

7 will have virtualzation of the XP platform built in, so you can utilize legacy programs in an XP enviroment, but on a 7 platform/core. Remember this is microsoft, so you will have to make sure you buy the 7 package that includes this awesome feature.

I would imagine with the full release of 7 coming this month, and looking like it has the creds to fully replace the clunky vista a new compatiable version of the Losi software will follow sortly.

I ordered a couple upgrade copies for 50$ a few months back, but I do like the beta that I am running now....:D

Just purchased a losi 8ight e and cant get the software update to work. The drivers wont load correctly. The puter is 32bit and I turned off the antivirus. I am the admin on the puter as well but for some reason it wont recognize the usb. Frustrating. I never had this problem with he Castle MM software. Whats the deal?:mad:

I have the same problem with Tekin's Hotwire. I will work in Vista only on the 32bit verson and only on compatability mode with administrative turned on. With window's 7, you need to have the professional version...it and ultimate are the only two that come with XP. It is not a compatability mode like Vista...it actually has XP in it. If you do not have either of those versions, it will never work.

installed the software and drivers in win 7 rc 32 bit and it loads and runs fine.. even checked and changed settings on esc to confirm..
seems just 64 bit operating systems it coughs and pukes upon.. hmm
have fun, ttfn

Now Windows 7 is officially released and the 64bit version seems to be the common choice, I would expect a version that is 64bit compatible very soon. I only have my business notebook which had Window 7 64bit installed this week, so I can't use the Losi Xcelorin software any longer.

When will a 64bit compatible version of the Xcelorin software be released?

Have you tried to right click the exe shortcut and select "troubleshoot compatibility"? Might get a compatibility fix.....

Troubleshoot compatibility doesn't work either. It is the driver for the USB adapter that will not install correctly on x64. I found a CP210x USB to UART driver for Windows 7 x64 at Silabs but with that driver Windows still doesn't recognise the Losi adapter.

Dear Losi team, please give us the software for Windows 7 x64 cause I am cripled without being able to fine tune my Xcelorin ESC. I think we have waited long enough!

Install probs with windows 7 ultimate 32bit.
I have tried all the above and its install but has problems with the usb drivers.
it does however say part way through that I dont have permission,

Ran in admin mode, with compatability mode win xp service packs 2 and 3 tried.

still no joy.

The controller becomes expensive when you have to go and buy an old pc as well.
I need to be able to take the drag brake off and want reverse.

Can someone from Losi at least tell when we can expect a new version of the software!

You would think by now such a large company would respond?

even to say they have no such developments

Hi,
After a bit of reading and time, i did the following and the esc software now works. I have Windows 7 Ultimate.:)

I downloaded windows virtual xp pc from microsoft :
From here:
www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx

It takes a few minutes to install after downloading.
Then run virtual pc.
It looks like XP as well
install the losi program from within the xp window.

Then connect the usb link to the computer.
several windows should pop up. just click continue.
they are just for the drivers.

At the top of the xp window there are several buttons. one says usb.
click the drop down and you will see losi usb connection, then click attach.

Then run the software as normal.

I have updated the firmware and changed all the software.

Hope this helps

Pete

I had also thought about Virtual PC but I knew that virtual machines used to have very poor support for USB devices so I never tried. I also believed it would not work together with x64 but after your reply Pete, I had to give it a try and to my supprise it is working!

But good to know is that you need to have a computer that supports virtual technology (most newer laptops supports this but you have to enable it in the bios) and you need Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise or Ultima. If you don't have that you cannot run Virtual PC /XP mode.

So, Team Losi, I still think you should give us a version of the Xcelorin software that works with all flavours of Windows.
