I am also having this problem. I'm running the smart diff's in the front and center, both stock. I noticed that Adam said he cuts his springs down. I think we need a detailed setup sheet and explanation from Losi on how to properly set these things up. Maybe a video. Adam, any ideas? If anyone else has a fix for the tire balloning, please post the fix.

I would rebuild the Diff.

I run the Center SD and have ran everything from 4 .15 springs to .20's w/ 2 coils cut, and have never had an uploading problem.

I pack my diff full of SD Grease.

I also build it upside down instead of in the diff case so I can make sure that all my springs are properly seated, or it won't lock up and will diff out.
Then once I put it into the diff housing I fill it up with grease. Close it up and spin it for a minute or two by hand to make sure there is no binding or grinding going on.

RJNicholson,

Are you running four springs or two? What does cutting the springs down do? How many springs do you cut? I don't see how it can function correctly with only two springs. I like your idea of rebuilding it upside down. Thank you for the information.

Pack it completely full of grease, cutting the springs with make it react a little quicker. I would just run 2 .15 springs and pack it. If you run it for a few minutes and still have problems, take it apart and if it looks like there is no grease in it. It means you didnt get enough in :). Just top it off and it should be good. Also in extreme heat and traction the grease will break down quicker compared to silicone.

I run 2 springs w/ 2 coils cut. They are the .20 springs. Like the last post said. It will help them to react quicker (unlock/lock). This set up is really aggressive on power and aggressive to neutral off power.

I have also shimmed behind the sun gear to make the gear mesh a little tighter after a few gallons of running them.

Seemed to make it react like it did when I first got the diff.

Also, I don't think they are the greatest thing on High Traction tracks they can be really snappy, and tend to make you correct your driving more then regular, or have to ease your throttle finger a bit.:D
