Hi guys, Im new to the forum and R/C cars as a whole. I just got done breaking in my Truggy RTR 454 big block . My question is, I broke in exactly the way the instructions said. Wihtout body it runs about 190 to 220 degrees. The minute I put the body on, run it for awhile my remote will warn me it is overheating. It warns you at about 240 degrees. Ive richend things up and motor runs cooler but not as crisp. Does it still need more breakin? Any other tips to help it run cooler. Thanks Rick

At 240 what is your fuel level 3\4 1\2 1\4 ect if you in the 3\4 range in ritchen it a bit in its 1\4 its about perfect.
On the dx3s you can change the temp alarm to what ever you want .

I just went out and checked my control. It was at 251. I was getting these temps with about a 1/4 tank left. I set it to 255. I also richened up my high speed screw. This is when it seems to over heat the most. Low speed it was fine never over 190. I ran 6 tanks of gas through it. No more than half throttle on straights and just let it roll through the turns. Today was the first day I got to nail it. My street is so small that it never got over 30 mph. tomarrow I go to the track and Ill see what happens there. Thanks Rick

The 350 and 454 engines are going to run hot with the rtr pipe. The ones that come through my shop in rtr form seem to run best on the track at about 250-275 and have had a good life.
When you get the re10 or re11 pipe temps will drop and runtime/power will go up.
hope this helps.

Once the motor is fully broken in the temps drop and power goes up. Even though you finished break in the motor may still be a little tight. After you run a couple weekends you may see your motor improve. Make sure there is smoke coming out the pipe. If its not crisp then your bottom may be a little fat. Just work in 1 hour adjustments. You will want to find a nice balance between the two needles. If one needle is really fat and the other needle is really lean then the motor will run hot and not run at its best performance. Is there any fast guys at your track that could look at it?
I would get a temp gun and check the temps, I thought mine was over heating, but it was the sensor was not reading right. it was off by almost 30*

Just to let everbody know. I went to the track . Car ran great, ran into a really nice guy who helped out a lot. Guage on control was hitting temps in the 375 range. With a temp gun after running it to quarter tank idle for ten seconds it only read 230. Does anybody else have a problem with guage in the control being this off? Is there a way to make the sensor more accurate? Thanks Rick

You can try moving it around on the head, see if you can find a spot where it's more on par with the temp gun.

re10 LOSR8000
re11 LOSR8001
presonaly i run jammin jp3 pipe. I added it on right after break in. The engine loved the change.
Also i would lose that temp gadge that is on the head. The temps never seem to be right.

Hi. I have a LST XXL. I have ran over 2 gallons of fuel ( Byron Gen2 Race 2500 Nitro Fuel - 25% ) through it now and it seems to run well at speed hitting 51mph and the temperature is at around 80 - 87 degrees Celsius. The only problem is as soon as i slow down or stop the temperature shoots up to 115 - 125 degrees Celsius. I have kept on richening the high speed needle which makes no difference so i have set it back so that there is a trail of smoke from the exhaust at top speed. The low speed needle is set so the revs just increase slightly when you pinch the fuel line to stop the engine. I have also cut a big hole out of the cars shell as advised in the instructions to increase air flow. Can any one advise me of what the issue could be or if this is normal.
i am going to buy a 454 truggy are they fast i have the 2.0 buggy are they just as nice
