FWD when power up

I know it's the wrong thing to do but I think the best of us do it every now and again. That is...Powering up the ESC before turning on the controller. I'm running the 1/8 LOSB9516 ESC & 1700 brushless. And when I accidentally do this, it runs forward at about 1/4 throttle. Even though it's wrong to do, seems like it should default at zero throttle without any signal input. Is it working as expected or can I correct that somehow (other than not doing it)

What I would try is rebinding your radio. It seems like if you are running 2.4 and you power the car first it will go to failsafe so it sounds to me like your failsafe is set wrong.
