Im fairly new to the RC world.

I have a Mini-T and a XXS touring car.

Theres a 17t motor on ebay (Yokomo ProStock II Motor Trinity Losi Associated X-Ray) will this improve the car much (it currently is 19t)

Im also thinking about upgrading the 2400 battery to 3600 or 4800 any advice on this and will it make a big difference?

Thanks guys.

If the motor temps allow you you can just gear it up instead of spending money on a new motor. Buying a liPo would greatly increase the performance of any motor while giving you more run time.

Another thing is that since Ive had it the motor runs really hot, I mean after 5 minutes running it burns your hand if you touch it. Is this normal?

By "improving the car", the question is, what are you trying to improve. Speed and handling go hand in hand. By working on the handle of the car this can make you faster. If you're looking for straight line speed, a 17t will make you faster, but you still ahve get the power to the ground.
A 19t is fairly fast, but if it's too hot to touch, you either have a gearing problem or a bind somewhere in the drive train. I run a 21.5 BL motor, (I know its not the same as a brushed motor) and on my temp gauge it's usually around 125*, VTA class gearing rules, but would be optimal @ about 150-160* range.
If you give us alittle more info, this will help us help you.

(Losi XXX-S)

I have just put in my new 17t motor :). The straight line speed is now really quick compared to the old 19t. Its making a higher pitch noise than previously is that normal?

It seems the esc is getting quite hot aswell, is that normal?

Thanks for your help, Ill get there in the end!

Sounds like the gear mesh might be to tight . If you are overheating then it can be from the tight gear mesh and/or geared to high .
