Looking for a bit of help here... I have searched to no avail.

I am putting together a 8ight 2.0 buggy to race this year and am having a problem shimming the clutch bell...

I have a nova rossi plus 4 and have installed the steel flywheel. Once I get the clutch bell in place the end of the crank shaft does not extend to the end of the outter bearing... It almost seems to me that the flywheel is too away from the engine block (no shims are behind the collet). I believe I have 2 shims between the clutch nut and the inner bearing, It seems that this keeps the bell from touching the flywheel and spinning free. However, I can not seem to get the shims right on the end and thought this might be because the crank shaft seems to come up short.... When I put the screw and conical washer on I seem to loose all endplay and it does not rotate smoothly. Any suggestions???

If you think the flywheel is too far away... it probably is. I would see if I could get that clutch nut any tighter first.

There are very small washers that fit in between the conical washer and the crankshaft for end play. Hope this helps.

Make sure you are using the Losi collet because the stock collet on most motors is too long with will space your flywheel too far out. If you bought the plus 4 and slapped a flywheel on it's probably the problem. If you get a Losi collet and compare them the losi is probably an 1/8th shorter and that's more than likely where your too long.

Thanks for the suggestions.... I am using the Losi Collet, Do I just need to crank down on the Clutch nut until it seats better?

Should I be shooting for my outer bearing to be flush with the end of the crank and shim from there?
