FWIW, I think that Drake set up would be a pretty good starting point. I run indoors at CRCRC and thought the truck was easy to drive. I only made minor adjustments at the track.

Drakes setup is great. I tweaked mine from Drakes starting point. This is my TCR setup but works great on the MF2 as well. (same setup on my daughters MF2) Just use the middle hole on the rear hub camber link.

I have a MF2 that I'm going to start racing in the Novice class at LSR in Sacramento. It's a small indoor blue groove track. The fast guys are ranging anywhere from 16sec to 19 sec depending on the class. I currently have the truck set up with the Matt Francis "new standard" set up except for the front limiters and the rear coils. I have orange rear coils. What changes would you recommend? I'm running a 10.5 Redline motor and RS-Pro ESC and a Nano Tech 6.0 Lipo. Stock front tires with either Holeshot Softs or Bowtie Softs. I'm pretty new at racing so I have the motor turned way down.

If the truck handles well then don't change anything. If you need more steering, more rear traction, low speed steering etc let me know and I can make some suggested setups changes that might help.

The only problem I'm having right now is I keep bouncing off the walls, other cars and wiping out in the corners. The mid air cartwheel-pass maneuver is my specialty. But I suspect though that's all due to my lack of driving skill. :o
Seriously though, I'm going to put a few packs through it tonight at the track. They have a new layout so it should be fun.

Learn to drive the car. If it is spinning out in the corners all the time or will just not turn then try and make some changes. Otherwise spend some time getting used the car and working on making consistant laps. IF the car really has a problem that you feel is holding you back approach one of the locals that looks like they know what they are doing and ask for help. People in the hobby are in general very helpful and should be able to point you in the right direction. Might be just setting ride hight or adjusting camber or maybe you have the completely wrong tires for the track. Either way have fun with it! ;)

Went to the track to practice last night. It was a new layout so it took some time to get used to it. By the end of the night I was able to turn pretty consistent 25sec lap times. That's about 4-5 seconds off from what the "fast guys" were doing. Found out when I got home that I cracked a front control arm. Still works but that side is stiff now. I hope I didn't bend the hinge pin.
First race of the winter season tonight. Hopefully the LHS has the arm and whatever else I need to fix my truck.
During practice I noticed that I have a lot of off power turning but the on power seems to be not enough. Is there some way I can balance the two out?

From what it sounded like I would start by going to a softer rear spring (try pink) I would have to dig up the rest of the MF setup to suggest other things. The softer rear spring will let the car sit on the rear on power better and transfer less weight off power which should help both of your issues.

I was wondering about the springs (for another reason). Back when this car was new it was being raced with NiMH packs and brushed motors. What effect would the much lighter Lipo packs have on spring rates? BTW I have both the little foam pieces for the battery in the rear. So the battery is all the way forward.

Pink springs in the rear worked good. The car did seem more balanced. Or maybe I'm just learning to drive better. lol. Anyway my fastest lap dropped by 3 seconds and I came in 2nd (out of 8) in the Novice A main.
Thanks for your help

Sweet. Probably a little of both. The learning curve when you are a beginner can be pretty steep. Glad to hear your fast lap dropped and you did well in the main. I would not worry too much about fast lap but look at consistancy. You want to try and get all your laps at the same pace. Once you do that then you work on dropping all the lap times! Consistancy wins over one lap speed in novice all day long!;)

Quick question. Is there any way to run SC tires and wheels on the MF2?

You can mount SC10 front wheels to the MF2 and you can change out the rear axles to Gen1 and then use XXX-SCT hexes and run SCT wheels on the rear. The truck will be too wide though especially in the front. Are you trying to convert it to a SC truck?
