View Full Version : ESC resets after jumps

I have a Speed T with stock ESC and motor. Whenever I land a bigger jump say 3 feet high and 9 feet long, the ESC resets and I loose control of steering and throttle for a few seconds.
Anybody have any thoughts on this?

that's no fun...
that is not normal, you have a loose connection somewhere causing the reset.
try a wiggle test of any wires you can see while it's on for it to loose the connection if nothing you need to go to swaping out parts mode until you find the source. could be any one of the electric parts, or even battery.
i run my speed t for high speed 3 cell lipo runs, it tends to fip over at high speeds when triing to accelerate and fiies trought the air crashing and flipping and slidding to a stop, the body is getting a severe case of road rash, the wheely bar is worn down to a stump and even the motor has deep scratches. broken tables and axles once and a while. three sets of rear tires.
never had a problem with the electronics cutting out because on occasion when the car is flipping threw the air, after a couple bounces i can get it back to its wheels and keep going.

Neobart - That would be very frustrating. What battery and connectors are you using? Like rc heaven stated I would look for loose connections first. Also be sure to check your capacitor to make sure it's well restrained within the vehicle and the wires are still in good shape.

I have had problems with throttle reducing down to a crawl after a heavy knock or large bump for a few seconds (seems like an eternity in a race!) with my xcelorin system and my novak system, I had the novak system before changing over to 2.4ghz from 40mhz without this issue.
I corrected the problem by reseating the receiver connections and the motor sensor connections and then securing all these wires to resist any flex from a static position during operation.
I have never had to secure wires this rigorously before 2.4ghz. but it might just be securing the sensor wires that fixed it as both were done at the same time in between races and I don't really want to play around freeing up the wires again individually to find out which one fixed it!
Good luck hope that gives you some things to try.

you might try turning off the lipo low voltage shut off i had to do that with mine and also nimh off to but you have to have a pc to do that

Turned out to be the capacitor. After replacing the double sided tape that held it in place, the problem went away.
