Anyone else have an issue w/ their carb slide boot not staying put? Mine has started slipping already.

Not yet. For now I've set my travel limit so it does go all the way open and the boot stays put. But something went wrong yesterday so I've got to pull the motor, I'll inspect it better then.

im having this same issue, i set my throttle travel to 100 % and it started pulling the boot off. i set it back down to 60%t and 40%b and that seems to be ok. it does not affect my take off or top speed. it seems that extra 1/8" that the slide opens doesnt really do much, if you look at a carb slide on a sled or anything 2 stroke most times they dont open all the way to the outside at WOT.

i had the same problem when i first got it. i super glued it to the carb ball link. hasnt come off since!! of course when i glued the carb ball link to the linkage it broke off when i was trying to take it apart. so be careful not to glue anything else(they dont sell the ball link separate, if you noticed some of my earlier posts:o). i would suggest taking the whole motor off, slide the carb open put glue on the boot (gel will probably be better because it dont drip everywhere) and close it until the glue sets. just make sure you get a good seal all the way around because if you noticed when it slips off it makes it run lean and you cant tune it!!!:D GOOD LUCK ALL!!

I've switched to a Trx carb anyway, that stock one is junk in more ways than one.

i totally agree!!
Would using a zip tie to hold it help? I just received my new carb from Horizon and noticed that the boot is loose. It is not coming off when I pull it, its just loose.
Also, looking down the throat of the air intake, should the barrel close all the way when it retracts?

i dont know about the zip tie, i glued it. but the carb slide should be open about the thickness of a credit card to start

You know what, I was thinking that the boot was slipping off of the carb and not slipping off of the ball link. I should pay better attention.
I realized what the problem was when it started to happen to me today, hah. New carb = new problem.

theres a groove in the carb slide behind the ball link that the boot rests in...thats where it slips off...i put a small bead of super glue around the boot(bellows as they call it) then seated the boot in that groove by closing the carb, after drying it put a nice seal all the way around, i did glue it to the ball link so it was hard to get it off when it broke, but i had no more problems with it slipping off....but i just replaced it with the traxxas carb anyway so it was pointless...lol but it did work for the time i needed it:D
