So if you're loose on exit under power, is it a way to help this condition?

Usually tires, tires, and tires... :)

I am having troubles with my truck pushing on corner exit and not steering tight enough thru the infield.

I want to learn and understand suspension on the xxxt cr to help fix the issue. Does anyone have any ideas where i can go on the net to understand the suspension on the truck or any other car.

I have always had this issue with the truck and am struggling to fix it. Went harder rear springs but still no good.

I would love a good easy ready reckoner for the truck that states if oversteer do this, understeer do this etc.

Any help please.

Thanks in advance.....

Unfortunately, there is no "easy" read to help with the adjustments of the car. Too many factors weigh into the situation. One of the ways we can help with adjustments to your car is to post your setup here along with what it is doing. Go to the Losi website and look at a XXXTCR setup sheet. List for us how your truck is setup for all the options on the sheet. From there, we can make some suggestions. Post up and we'll go from there...

This is my current setup.

The problem I am having is pushing big time coming out of corners.

Using 8 rib tires on front and holeshot's rear. Racing in the 17.5 stock class.

Chris Wolfson

What is the track like? I'm judging by your tire selection that you're outside on dry, packed dirt?

The setup seems very stiff for me overall. That could just be stopping the truck from rolling properly to finish the turn. 32.5/57/Silver on the front end seems pretty stiff. Try something softer with less pack in the front. That should get the truck to finish the turn more. How about 30/56/orange - I'm thinking should really get the front end to work better. I think 37.5 wt. oil in the back is definitely too heavy. I don't think I've ever run anything that heavy in 1/10 electric.

Another thing to consider might be tires. I've never been a fan of the 8 rib front tire. Have you tried a directional?

Just some things to consider. It may work - it may not... It still depends...

urismo21

I tried some taper pins on the front and made it worst. The setup I am running is pretty similar to Caspers setup. The track is hard packed but with light dust covering on it.

Do ypu have a part number for the directionals?

Chris is there any chance of grabbing your setup off you please.

I so just need to learn about the suspension so I know what to change at the track.

Thanks

Chris Wolfson

Sure - this one! Let us know what kind of help you need. Is your truck built yet? What kind of surface are you racing on? Do you have the right tires yet?

Just a few things to get things rolling...

Ok, my truck is in the mail from amain and our first race is on may 8th. I have ordered ; graphite t plate, blue springs, JC Goosebumps, Double Dee's, Flip outs, kingpins, and barcodes. As far as the electronics go I just ordered a savox ti .08 sec servo and another spectrum receiver. Today I need to order about 4 sets of qc wheels, 2 sets of metal wheel bushings, and decide which brushless system to order. I am thinking about purchasing the new castle 4600 4 pole and the version 2 sidewinder. The only thing holding me back is the sensorless feature. I ran a castle pro with a duo 2 sensored last season in my ese and loved it. Ohh I forgot I picked up 3 genace 5000 mah 40c hardpacks. Our track is awsome! Outdoor, 65 yards long, table tops, doubles, moguls, 12 ft lanes, and many turns. The track gets hard packed but there is always a layer of slick loose stuff on top (unless it rains).

banannaclip , you have a PM .

Chris Wolfson

Sounds like a good start. I would reference the TLR website at www.tlracing.com and check the setup sheets available for the truck. The setup sheets can be found under the "support" tab. I believe they list a starting setup for Matt Chambers. That would be a good setup to start with for your new truck. I would make sure you put the setup on completely - all the adjustments tend to work together and the small details are very important many times.

Also - your tire selection looks pretty good although I would add some ribbed fronts - probably a set of red compound Losi Directionals. Those can be found here:

http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=LOSA7505R

Once you get it built and on the track it's important to get the tires correct first. You should be able to go around the track with good traction where the truck doesn't want to spin out and doesn't want to push into the wall from the front end. Either of those situations indicates you aren't getting good traction from the tires on that end of the truck. Once you have that situation settled, then we can tune the truck to a finer degree.

As far as electronics, your choices sound pretty good for servo and receiver. I'm not very familiar with Castle products, but I know I haven't seen them very into the top level racing scene. They might be fine, I just don't have any experience. I'm running Xcelorin stuff, but it's not available at the moment. Maybe someone else can give some insight into electronic speed controls for you.

Post any questions or concerns in here or feel free to message me if you have any specific questions about building or setting up your truck. I love my XXXT CR - I think you will too.

Hello everyone, I am new to RC and just bought a XXX-T CR kit and I need a little help with picking a motor. A new track is being bulit by my house that looks like it is being made from red clay so I said this might be fun and so I deceided to give the RC hobby a try. I do plan to try and race one day and make use of the track. Can anyone suggest a good motor for the kit and also what type of servo I would need. Thanks everyone.

Alot of guys have now gone back to the standard plastic hubs with the QC adaptor. Anyone got part numbers to make this change and why have people made the change, is it because of the weight difference?

Thanks

Alright, our track dried up and several of us met up Saturday for a little pratice. I set my truck up based off caspers set up. I was amazed at the handleing and the steering of this little guy. Comeing from short course the xxx t cr is outstanding. I drove on the box stock tires all day and I could literally choose my line and pass any truck on the track. There was a few new t4's and a few firestorms show up. The firestorms did very well but the t4's had steering issues all day. My jeep hatch was fully stocked with all of my new wheels and JC tires but I didn't need to break them out! I also didn't want to show the competition my new tires as of yet! :D

Just based on a personal observation -- The TLR22 spur gears appear to be the EXACT SAME gears as the XXX seriers spur gears, but with new part numbers. I would tend to assume that the "old" numbers are discontinued in favor of TLR part numbers as part of the separation of the LOSI "RTR" stuff from the TLR "racing" stuff...

Quick question for Casper. Coming from Kyosho vehicles the best tire setup seemed to be Pro-Line Suburbs rear, and Jconcepts Bar Codes fronts for OC/RC. Is that a setup you would recommend for the XXXT-CR? Also is there an update as to where weight is being placed for Lipos?

Casper
05-22-2011, 07:13 PM
I really did not run any "extra" weight just for running a lipo. MC suburbs work well as do Gold barcodes (longest lasting option) you can run Pink BK bars in the rear with pink tapers up front were my favorite tire for OCRC.

Hey I'm running a XXX-T but not all CR parts, (mf2 rear hubs and chassis) and I'm running the basic MF2 stock setup. It works great unless the track gets a little loose and then the rear is very loose and the front has tons of grip so it's tricky once the rear tires get broken loose. What's the best way to take some traction away front the front and shift it to the rear?

Guys, I just picked up a castle V2 sidewinder with the new 4 pole 4600kv motor. I had really bad luck with my new novak 10.5 havock 3s system. What gear range should I start with. I jujst had it at the track running a 86 spur and started with a 15t pinion. Made 2 laps and the motor + speed control was smoking hot. Moved up to a 17t and the esc shut down. I let it cool down tried a 18t and the same thing happened????????

seth556
05-30-2011, 05:13 PM
Bananaclip - You are going the wrong way with the pinion. A higher number of the teeth on the SPUR will make it run cooler and the opposite for the pinion.

jpcopeland1
05-30-2011, 06:54 PM
With that high KV of a motor I would start at a 13 and and check temps, go up ont tooth at a time. Also if you have it boosted any, get rid of it.

I'm installing the new 4 degree rear pivot aluminum block from the XXX-SCT on my XXXT-CR and I noticed that the stock hinge pins brace does not fit the new block.
I had a look at the XXX-SCT manual and found that it uses a different part number for the hinge pin brace than the XXXT CR. But from what I can see from pic, this hinge pin brace is made of plastic, not aluminum like the one on my T-CR.
My question is, do they make an aluminum hinge pin brace for the XXX-SCT?
If not, do I even need a plastic hinge pin brace since I'm using an aluminum pivot block?

You can probably get away without the hinge pin brace. Just take the slack up on the hinge pin with a few shock limiters. I've done that on the XXX before when I didn't have an extra brace when building an extra car.

The CR kit is pretty tricked out, out of the box. If you break stuff might want to look at Graphite parts to replace EA3. If you break a T-plate look at the one from the SCT. Other then that you are pretty tricked out already.

Chri44ophe55

The truck comes pretty fully loaded. I would recommend titanium ball studs for the rear hubs, rear shock tower and front inner camber link locations.

Although many have had luck with the EA3 T plates I prefer the graphite one. Run the EA3 one until it wears out or breaks and then put a graphite one on. That is pretty much it. Put some track appropriate tires on it and go have some fun!

It has been a while since I ran stadium truck but most run between 10.5 and 7.5 in a truck for most conditions. You can go down to 6.5 but with todays batteries that is a lot of motor.

Check out the 22T manual for starting gearing. They share the same interal tranny ratio's. ESC settings will play a lot into your gearing though.

I would like to know if there is any other bodies I can get for my cr other than j-concepts and the stock one from losi. I mounted up a proline bulldog(for a t4) on mine and it fits pretty good, but its not perfect and with me being kind of anal about that stuff it just pisses me off everytime I look at it. I really like the newer cab forward design bodies for stadium trucks. I just wish I could find one that fits my cr well. I have a jconcepts punisher(also for a t4) on the way, I hope that works but I dont have my hopes up too high. any info would be great. thanks in advance.

There were really not a lot of aftermarket bodies for the CR. You can put any other XXX-T body on it but they are a little short. Just have to drill the front holes a little further forward for them to fit. I don't see any new bodies for it either with the 22T hitting shelves very soon.

The stock diff does not seal all that well but you can use the AE diff gasket from there SC10 and it seems to work pretty well. It works ok. I fill it with 3-5k diff oil and that seems about right. Maintance is way down. She is not competative and likes staying on throttle when stuck so I don't have to worry about rebuilding her ball diff a lot. Makes it worth it.

The diff will feel cruchy when it goes bad. As long as it feels smooth you are good to go. To ensure maximum diff life make sure the slipper is set looser then the diff. Once a diff slips it will go bad VERY quickly.

Sometimes, the diff will remain smooth for a long time, then you outdrive may become worn and need to be replaced, but this is not the norm.

Guys,

Just bought a used XXX-T CR roller and I'm having an issue with the rear end. The arms don't want to go all the way up and are binding. The shocks aren't overfilled. I though maybe it was the diff. The left dog bone seems to be hitting the diff nut inside the outdrive.

I took the diff apart and put it back together but still the same effect. I have no clue and it's driving me crazy...

Any help will be appreciated!!!

~John

There is no quick connect for the front , only rear .

I would definitely get the XXX-TCR chassis. It is longer, and will smooth the truck out and make it more stable.

not to stir up an old post im just getting into off road racing and im wondering how long should the turnbuckles be in length on the xxx-t cr i used the kit measurements and nothing on the truck seems right.

The lengths will depend on which holes you use . Please explain why it doesn`t seem right .

so using the setup from the build instructions. with the servo at zero the right tire is almost straight and the left and 7 degrees toe in which i know is to much do I used the factory setup holes also. basically the truck is not square at all. so do i just need to adjust the lengths to square up the truck and then tune from there.

I have always had on road vehicles and never really had this problem

Are both turnbuckles for the steering adjusted to the same length ? Possible you have a camber turnbuckle in place of steering ?

they are all the same length maybe i built part of it wrong its been along time since ive done a kit. I think im going to just take it apart then put it back together I didnt even think I might have used the wrong ones Ill give it a try. thanks for the quick reply.

The rear camber links are longer and if I remember correctly the actual turnbuckles for the front camber and steering are the same length .
