I am converting a 8ight-T 2.0 RR using the Tekno kit. Direct drive and motor brakes for the time being. I am dropping in a Castle MM 2200kv and was wondering what gearing would be best. Not doing a ton of racing yet, so mostly just bashing and a little racing. Still pretty new to the hobby. I think the RR comes with a 50t spur, not sure. So what are you other 8TE 2.0 guys running for gearing?

why wouldent you buy the losi conversion kit that way you know it fits and have no problems

I have not bought anything yet, but I am leaning towards the Tekno. I like that it is an entire chassis built specifically for the 8T 2.0. I like the flexibility of both the clutch and manual brakes, even though I do not plan on using them right away. I looked at the Losi conversion, but it sounds like it has some issues with spurs larger than 45t.

There is really no concern about the kit fitting. I was really looking for some advice on gearing, I would have the same questions if I was using the Losi kit. I have seen 13/50 and 15/50 in other threads around the net. I was just looking for some more advice on what might work good for my specific set up.

the losi conversion is better.the tekno is to stiff and hampers the control that the losi chassis offers.the 45 spur is perfect and you will be on a 13 or 14 pinion.more then enough speed for bashing..also you dont need the brake...the 2200 kv is awesome fast and match that up with a 4cell 5000mah and have fun..

Interesting point about the chassis, I know the losi chassis is great. I agree that 45 spur would be fine as well, I did some number crunching in the speed calculator that is out there and I would be fine. I use the same MM 2200kv combo with some Thunder Power 30C 5000mah and your right the speed is insane.

I like the simplicity of the losi kit, I have just heard that there is some mods that need to be done when using the neu-castle motors. The motor mount might need to be modded and issue with the motor shaft no being longer enough. Anyone use this combo with the losi kit? Are these issues true? How are the instructions with the kit, I don't think it will be that difficult, but this would be my first conversion.

thanks for you response and the great info.

so if i am sticking with the 50t and running a 1900 on 4s i am guessing about 16 or 17 for the pinion? Racing on a smallish indoor track

I run a MMM v3 and 1515 1y 2200 kv NEU in my 8t V2, with the Losi kit ,if you want to use the 50t spur you will need to dremel the chassis abit to clear the spur,I geared mine 15/50
it is still very quick,I'm using 4s 35c 5400mah.

Thought I'd chime in on the gearing. I'm using a 48s/15p combo on my losi 8ight-t 1.0 with the losi conversion kit. I didn't have to dremmel the chassis but I did have to shim the diff mount up.

i have the losi eight t 2.0 eletric conversion. im running the tekin rx8 with a 2000kv motor. truck comes with 50t spur gear installed. my question is, should i run the spur gear that comes on the truck, or the gear that comes in the conversion kit which is a 45t spur? is the gear in the conversion kit for the buggy? or is that what losi recommends for running electric? thanks in advance.
