Temp check with DX3S vs Temp Gun

Hello Mr. Drake, im a newbie with a quick question, I have Losi 2.0B RTR.
The question is how accurate is the Temp reading from the DX3S as the sensor (lower part of head) is at a lower level than a gun would normal take it? (say above Glow plug)
wouldnt the DX3S temp be hotter at this level??

My experience is that the DX3S reads about 9-10 deg C hotter than my tempgun. Moving the sensor loop a couple of fins up, brought them almost inline...
