Well i picked up a speed T from a buddy with intentions of racing off road with it . when i bought the thing i was thinking it was pretty much a xxxt. I couldnt find a list of how it differs from that. I noticed the diff was locked that has to go along with tires. Is there anything else i need to do to run with CR's and t4's?
What parts should i stock up on wont be bashing with it ?
DT diff or balls better will be with 13.5 and 10.5 motors?
Or should i just man up and get a real race truck ?
i tried to do searches but the name seems to bring up a million other posts
Thanks
Clint B.

Hello Clint! Welcome to the boards! All in all, what you have there is pretty much a XXXTCR with a few tweaks. For the tranny, simply add carbide diff balls....for shock towers (if you want to go this far) pull the numbers from teh XXXTcr parts list/ instruction manual and install accordingly. Same goes for shocks. I believe the Speed-T shocks are shorter....not sure off the top of my head. You'll have to switch over to a XXXTcr body as the mounts are different. Upgrade parts only as you break them.....don't waste your money on NON beneficial items. I would upgrade to Lunsford Ti-Rods though.....they are almost mandatory for competition.
For motor, a 13.5 or 10.5 or any brushless motor will be fine with the ball diff. Just build it according to the directions in the XXXTcr manual and maintain accordingly. You can go the DT diff route, but you will lose ALL adjustability.......that is extremely important with that truck. Stick with the ball diff!

You can put the Desert Truck shocks on the Speed T to give longer travel. XXX-T, SDT and DT are all from the same lineage - IE XXX-T. Put a Robinson idler gear in it. http://www.losipartshouse.com/servlet/the-29246/RRP9402-Hardened-Steel-Idler/Detail

I am running the Smasher XL tires and rims.

I have both a DT and SDT and race them on a paved oval in an Arizona RV Resort.
Get the PC interface cable for programming the esc. I am running a Sidewinder/4600KV and like the ability to program the esc on my laptop.

thanks for the replys guys looks like im gonna keep this thing then
im gonna do up the ball diff and run the stock suspension until i break sumthing or distroy my 2 bodys. maybe by fall ill have it converted to a xxxt-cr
im going to put the speed t's esc and motor in to a touring car ( i did run a race with the losi esc and motor in my rustler it worked okish but want a sensored set up) and run my gtb or pick up a cheapy havoc depending on if i get mmp for main race truck (4x4 sc class)
im planning on runnin 2.2 goosebumps for outside and some small pins for inside on the rear . Is there sumthing so i can use hexes on the truck i hated the pin and slot style back when i had some rc10's. would that quick change set up be sumthing to think about ?
Now some of the guys here are using a taper pin for front tires  should i just go with that dual tread front tire ( pins and ribbed from proline?) so i can use same front tires in and outside? id like to not have a small forture wraped up in sets of tires but i do know the right tire will help with the way it drives

Clint, glad to be of some help. TIRES! Yup...you can sink a lot of money into them real quick. My personal view on the Quick Change setup is that it is only really beneficial on the nitro truck.....ya know...pull in for fuel and fresh meats.....out you go. On electric, not worth the money or hasle. I ran a XXXT for a long time alon with a XXX and NEVER had any problems with teh pin style. I bet the problems you are thinking about with the old RC10 was with the 1/4" axle.....those would strip the wheel out all the time.....never had a problem with the now standard 3/16". As for tire choice....see what the fast guys are using and use them. Otherwise, it's up to what works best fo you.....sorry.
