if all else fails vegetable oil will do the job again same with air filter oil dont soak it just a few drops and squeeze through. The oil is used to trap the dirt but allow air to flow unrestricted.

Go to any bike shop and get some air filter oil. Much cheaper then any LHS.
Do not use any other oil but air filter oil for foam filters. It needs to be tacky to trap the smallest of the particles.
losi does sell it i belive, but associated for sure makes it, but in a pinch i use a little fuel to clen it, then soak in fuel again and let alcahol dry and leave a little oil on it, it works, but use real AF oil when you can OR go to a motorcycle shop for the extra cheap(probably same stuff)

K&N filter cleaners and oil works very very well and is available "down under" I do believe. It is made for for full scale cars but I just tried it and like it. My man Feeble put me on to it.
It is clean and easy to work with. I understand that the Associated filter oil is a bit too tacky for some.

yeah, the associated oil is stick as all get out. I have used it EXTREMELY spariing . And any auto part store should have air filter oil for the half dozen k&n knoc off filters and such for real cars./ I do kno in a pinch you can use fuel or shock oil, motor oil, whatever.
the idea i that it JUST TAKS UP ENOUGH to catch dust that he membrane foam wont catch

If you do a search in google you will find a few alternatives that racers are using.

Go to your local bike shop and ask for No Toil or it maybe called Pro Honda air filter oil and cleaner. This stuff is a god send. If there's one thing I hate about running nitros, it's cleaning the air filters. But this special combo makes it a snap. The Pro Honda oil is awesome stuff will only come off w/ the special cleaner. But it comes off and cleans up about 1000x times easier than anything I've ever tried.
It's a lot cheaper than buying the little dinky r/c sized bottles too.
