I've just installed V3.0 of the Xcelerin software and downloaded the latest firmware upgrade. I went through the firmware upgrade sequence and at the end got Read Error 2010!

Now the software doesn't read my ESC and it looks like something isn't working. How do I get around this?

Seems nobody here knows the answer so I emailed Horizon Hobby support and the reply today was the following.

Steve,

Thank you for contacting Horizon Hobby Product Support. The read error during a firmware update means the ESC is geased – the board will no longer respond to input. The unit can be returned for warranty evaluation.

Please send the ESC and motor along with a copy of your sales receipt to:

Horizon Service

Attn: Losi Dept.

Please include a note with your name, address, daytime contact number and a description of how the product failed and any specific items you wish to be taken care of. You may also simply print and fill out our Service & Repair Center

Looks like I have bought a dud off anther racer.

Steve - If you haven't sent your unit in yet, I have a quick recommendation for you. Often times when read errors occur it is because one of the parameters has become blank for some reason. Many times this happens when you update from an old version of the firmware. I would first try reading the settings off of your ESC. You will likely get the 2010 read error. Next I would make sure that each parameter has a value for it; nothing should be blank. Send setup for the General tab and then repeat for Throttle and Brake tabs. Usually this will resolve your problem. Let me know how it goes. -Brian

Brian,

What I actually did was, using the V3.0 software, set the ESC back to the factory default. There was an option for that in the pulldown menus. I then went through each of the variables and made my selection as well. The ESC seems to work OK now so I'm not sure what the heck that error was about.

Strange that the customer support folks didn't suggest this first rather than ask me to send the unit in for service.
