As most of the racers have seen out there when we came out with the 8T 2.0 we released a new clutch bell. The 13T clutch bell(LOSA9126) is a metal injected part whereas the original 13T clutch bell (LOSA9116) is a completely machined clutch bell. You will notice with LOSA9126 clutch bell that it is much truer and the bearing fitment is excellent. On the LOSA9116 the bearing fit is a bit looser and the clutch bell is not as true. We have found on the track the LOSA9116 clutch bell does have less slippage on the clutch which equates to more punch/torque. LOSA9126 tends to slip a little more and provide a smoother power delivery. Hope this gives you some insight on tuning options for your 8IGHT 2.0 and 8IGHT-T 2.0

Losi offers the metal injected clutch bells in the following sizes:
LOSA9126-13T
LOSA9127-14T

Remember to always use scotch-brite or medium grit sandpaper on the inside of a new clutch bell. This will improve the clutch break in period drastically.

I find on the new clutch bell that sometimes it is hard getting the front bearing out of the bell.

Am I not replacing it soon enough?

Because it is a tighter fit the bearing will not want to come out as easily. Add to that there is usually dirt/debris that gets around the bearing making it harder to get it out. Go ahead and clean around the bearing the best you can using a soft brush or Nitrotec. Then lightly tap out the bearing from the inside of the clutch bell in an X pattern so it slowly works its way out. Its a good idea to take off the bearing shields and spray it out again and *lightly* re-lubricate it with bearing oil.

I really like these new clutchbells when they first came out. They meshed better and the bearings fitted much better. But im extremely disapointed with their life span. i never once wore out one of the older style bells last season, but i have gone through 3 on the high endurance ones this season. They have definately sorted out the bearing problems but they don't last half as long as they should

Yea I'm the same, I got one a couple of months ago to try and it was awesome for about 3 race meets, them after the fourth race meet I noticed that a few teeth were missing, (not the whole teeth, just the tip). I just kinda figured that high endurance meant they would last a long time....if used correctly. I have just got another to try but I never had teeth missing from the old style. ;)

+1

The new style bells definitely wear the teeth out faster on my truck. Ran an entire season last year on my 1.0 truck without having to replace the bell. I went back to the old 1.0 revision bell on my 2.0

+1 on using the old clutch bell. I have seen 2 go this season for me. First one was the teeth, the 2nd still has the front bearing fused inside of it. Keep in mind its not the full bearing just the outer ring. Ill just stick with the 1.0 clutch bell.

Curious as to Why cant we get the pins tapered from the factory ?

Also I Highly suggest NO loctite on the clutch shoe pins, Imo its not needed.
