I purchased this trcuk as soon as it came out. Brought it home 12/20/09. I decided to go through with a gentle break-in process and run it a few times on a stand before the wheels ever hit the ground. after the first break-in(which it started right up and ran great), i could never get the truggy to start. i adjusted the low speed, the high speed, the idle, it didnt matter. The truck would not run. in fact, the most i could ever get it to run was when i would engage the ross motor and assist the nitro to fire until i let off the starter button.

This made me furious, no matter what I could get it to start, even changing the stock glow plug. until i changed the stock one to a OS A3. I took this advice from another forum member. And it solved the problem instantly. It put the fun back into this truggy. I honestly was contimplating putting this thing on ebay. Now I wont thanx to the member who helped me. But it seems that several people have this issue no matter what climate they live in. I am a happy Losi customer, trust me. So much that next week I will be buying a 8ight-E 2.0. I just thought that this is a small fix for a big problem. Just think of the customers who dont have internet access and have a problem silmilar to this......

Perhaps there should be a note in the trouble shooting section suggesting a hotter plug. Maybe it should even come with a hotter spare plug in the box. It's weird that some of them won't run at all with the stock plug, and there is the other extreme which mine falls into. I'm still running the plug that came in it after a gallon of fuel, and I've not has the slightest problem. I wonder if the motors have seriel numbers on them and if they are sequential throughout the manufacturing run. It would be interesting to know if it's a certain group of engines that are having the problems.

I am not sure if I was the guy who suggested the A3, but I know this fixed mine right up. The odd part is I am located in California just like the Losi guys, so you'd think they would also need a similar plug. I know on the R/C Tech Forums there was another guy in my area who was having the same issues. I suggested the A3, and it fixed his right up too.

I agree that they should probably make a running change and add this plug to the box. Maybe it is only necessary in minter months, but it isn't like it is especially cold here in the Bay Area (maybe 50-60 degrees out when running it).

I just read in another post that the A3/#6 is not a suitable plug b/c it's 1 thread too short. Anyone have both plugs handy that can verify or debunk this claim?

I have been running the A3 with great performance, so unless I get some official report that this is damaging my engine, I don't plan to change it.

I measured the #6 vs the DYN2495 (stock plug) last night. The stock plug from the seat base to the tip was 4.57mm. The #6 plug was 4.45mm. Close enough for me.

But now I see someone posting that they're using mc-59's in this engine. I thought that was a "long" plug.

God I'm so confused.

the biggest thing to keep in mind here is that for break in you are running a cooler plug, cooler plug in colder temps will get overwhelmed with fuel and flame out, this is why swapping to a hotter plug helped keep the rug running. As for the diffrent depth of the plug vs stock, you are acutally increasing the combustion chamber in return killing some of the power that the motor has to offer.

more compression=more power and hotter temps
less compression=less power and slightly lower temps

does this mean that you pull your head off and throw away the shims? NO!!!! the compression ratio's are put in place for the ammount of combustion that will allow the most efficent burn possible, when you start changing the chamber, you are changing that ratio. and hampering the motor.

Sweet rims where did you get those or are they custom painted?

You can buy the black chrome rims like I did.

Grimlock what sort of grip do you get with those tires on the dirt/road.?

I haven't had a good solid track day since switching. So I cannot really give any good feedback. Supposedly they are the tire to own for running on a track.
