Are there any metal gears in the tranny that can be purchased seperetley for this truck just like the ones by losi for the high roller, strike, and slider to handle brushless.
thanks in advance.

I'm not aware of any metal gears for the desert truck other than the top shaft/gear... Remember that none of the Slider/Strike gears will fit as they have completely different trannys...
And why would you change them?
mine rides with a 6.5T Xcellorin and works good.
Reason they made metal ones for the High Roller is they brake as you watch them the deserts don't

I would have to agree with Moby - in the past 6 months I have only destroyed the idle gear and that was from having the slipper clutch to tight. I was having issues with the drive shafts at the CV however this was fixed with loc tight on the grub screws.

The standard gears should be able to take just about anything you want to throw at them.

Hi, guys.
Check out thetoyz.com for many ally and carbon upgrades. I just blinged up
my mini lst2 and my desert truck - awesome. Will post some pics soon.
I don't think I have heard of anyone stripping the DT diff, that is why it is common for people to put the DT diff in the Speed-T

jup and over here they are starting to put the dt diff in xxx-cr and BK2 to
even for mid motor conversions

only differance between Speed T and DT
is the diff 1 ball 1 gear
but T is brushless allready so don't see why
unless maybe to use thicker grease or oil
to slow it down

There is a metal gear.. I believe Robinson makes it I saw it on rcuniverse I think. BUT, I have been running DT diffs in my XXXT and Speed T and have never had an issue. 7700 2s and 4800 on 3s.

Yes, there is a steel idler gear available for these, Robinson racing sells them (part# RRP9402), I have one in mine, not that I ever had any problems with the original (still in good condition) even with brushless but I did not want to be cought out on the chance I did manage to strip it.
As for the rest of the tranny I have never had any problems with it, diff is great, I am not really a fan of the ball diff but I can see and understand why they might have an advantage in some situations.
But I don't believe that a ball diff could make a truck any quicker if it had a good driver.

If you are looking for a metal uper idler gear rpm makes one to fit the dt i had trouble with mine going bad after going with the 7500kv xcelorin brushless combo i have had no problems since

I stripped 2 stock idler gears after installing an excelorin system, the truck is mostly run on a bmx dirt jump park and the grass surrounding it, I have the slip set perfectly now and haven't ruined one in nearly a year.

I just joined the forum and the Losi family. Could you tell me where to get the metal diff. gears for the High Roller? I keep tearing up the plastic gears and think that I may have to go with the metal ones. I'm in So. Calif. so I will probably have to order online unless someone live in Orange County and knows of a hobie store that might have them in stock.
Thanks
