I've got a few of them. Through collecting them in recent years I have come to find that there were many variations of parts over the production life of the car. This first one is built with all the early versions of parts. Thick/no-hole rear shock tower, Aluminum outdrive spacers, 2-hole lower side link without reinforcement ribs, side bulkhead without external rib, A blank motor plate(no logo on the rear) and several other early parts variations. It is topped with an original Losi Pro-Painted body that was recently liberated from its package.

This next car was built with almost all new parts, It took nearly a year to get all the parts I wanted.

It is built with every RPM option part that could be used on a single car:
Bumper, front bulkhead, front arms, steering carriers, steering knuckles, ball cups, shock top mounts, shock lower cups, steering bellcrank, battery box, side bulkheads, rear linlks, and rear hinge pin carrier.

Shocks have MIP gold sharts and SRS delrin rebuildable cartriges. Hinge pins are Lunsford titanium and turnbuckles are all tecnacraft Ti. Wheels are SEES Aluminum directionals

The transmission has full thorp Gears with a MIP slipper clutch, MIP HD thrust bearing, MIP HD diff ring, and Trinity Stainless steel bearing set. The motor plate is a litespeed heatsink plate, held on with Losi Aluminum transmission screws, and the motor is a new Trinity Super speedway stock 23T. The slider driveshafts were replaced with MIP Bones.

Hi Guys,
It's great to see some of you are into preserving the past. The JRX-2 really revolutionized 1/10 scale off-road. It was the first kit to include all the aftermarket parts that the other cars needed to be race ready. It also used a totaly new building concept where you used all the parts in the first bag before moving on to the next bag. This cost more to package but even first timers really found this easy to use and build without mistakes.

My JRX-2........ I have the original black, grey, and white model used in the first ad. Oh and I have the printers proof of the ad as well. Yea.... I'm really proud and no it's not for sale!

The old stiff is still out there. Keep looking.
Gary

Gary,
Do you have pictures of your car to post?
Are there any of the original vehicles at "the office" that you could post pics of?
There were several cars, including the one on the cover of the manual, that only seemed to appear in black/white print which I would love to see color pics of to attempt replica builds.
Thanks,
-Anthony

I had one of the first JRX2s. It was my 2nd serious RC car first being a Falcon :). My parents have some old photos of mine when I used to race. I will try to get some of them and get them uploaded.

A friend of mine gave me his JRX2 and a box of goodies. The only problem has been the transmission spur gear (interior) was shredded. After about a year of searching and e-mailing, I finally have a gear and the bearing balls for it. My question is as follows: How tight do you need to set the button head screw holding the thrust assembly together? I have located the manual online, but nothing says what the "torque" specs are, or what and how much things need to spin. Any help would be appreciated.

Nice!!! I just bought the JR-T, but the gears were Shredded. I mean just shredded. I gave it back to him and he gave me back my 20 bucks. No wonder why it was so cheap. Shame they don't make parts for the classics anymore. Im lucky that losi part house had 2 parts for my XX-T CR. That thing flys.

I found ALL the "Legacy" parts on EBAY. Some a little expensive, and others very reasonable. I bought 6 differential spur gears for $27. That included the shipping costs. There is a full set of moulded gears and bushing set for the JR-T on there. $8.75 for the bushing set, and $25 for the moulded gears. Plus shipping. links as follows:

ouch!
Diff gears are still available new from horizon/losi for $2 each!
http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=LOSA3006

Many parts pop up on ebay, I've built a couple complete cars from new in the package parts off there. always do a search for the part# on horizon first, there are quite a few drivetrain and other parts that are still available.

That gearset for $25 is crazy. I recently bought a lot which had a set along with about 20 other new in the package parts for only $23.

There are some parts that are very hard to find, mostly because they were changed along the way, so the early variations are more rare. It took me almost 2 years to get a NIP set of 4 of the original thin(and very fragile) shock clamps.

torque specs? I don't ever recall seing that for any ball diff.
Tighten it until it is tight enough :D
it actually tells how to adjust the diff in the back of the manual, page 25, under tuning tips.
once the transmission is assembled and on the car, you should be able to just barely spin the spur gear with your thumb while holding both wheels from spinning.

If you are going to run the car I highly recommend finding one of the ball bearing diff gear upgrade kits(part #a-3020). They use special bearings that are thinner than standard, and there are 2 of them in there instead of just one. this will make the diff much more reliable as the stock one is prone to melt the inside of the gear due to fiction.

My first CR kit was a JrX2. I sold it to buy a Pro SE. I rebuilt an X2 a while ago for fun and run it with a Tekin 411G, Trinity Championship Series motor, and Airtronics Caliber 3P to keep it "old school."

Did any of you guys put a belt drive conversion (a belt connected the pinion and spur) on your rides back in the day? I installed one on my X2 and hated it - the belt slipped - but thought that it was a "must have" mod, so I tolerated it.

Okay, so I spent too much on the diff gears (A-3006) , but still need the balls for them. I found horizon had the original part # for $2 and a carbide set for $13. what's the difference. I am sorry for being such a newb, but planes and helis are my thing not cars. Is it worth buying them from Horizon with the $6 shipping for a $2 item?

I did a look up @ Horizon for the A3020 (losa3020) and no matches :(
Anyone know where to locate this part?
