breakin for new 454 engine

was wondering the exact break in procedures for the 454 engine i ran 4 tanks while sitting oon the starter box of course letting the engine cool after each tank, then the fifth tank i ran it around slowley on the road but the temp jumped up to 200, is this normal and what else should i do to break in the eninge properly? and how many more tanks shall i use during breakin?

sounds like your temps ok. I would do some 1/4 to half throttle figure 8ight runs for a tank. then go to 3/4 blips on a track for a tank. considering your running large trug tanks your running it in well.
