j42 - Typically this is due to too large of a pinion, too small of a spur gear, or too little battery voltage. What battery and pinion are you using?

Im having a bit of an issue with my 1/18 xcelorin. I never seem to have any reverse, even when i have the ESC programmed on Foreward/Reverse mode. Ive programmed it with the QPC and the computer, and with each, i have reverse for the next time i turn it on only. The next time i turn it on i will have no reverse again. Any ideas as to what could cause this guys? it is really annoying when i get into a situation where i need reverse and i dont have it. =(

Your'e over geared. throw on the biggest spur you have and the smallest pinion. then, work your way up in pinion size adding two teeth until your happy with the speed and amount of cogging

it depends on your gearing, your chassis' internal gear ratio, what size wheels/ tires, and what kind of amps your pushing from your batteries.

Firmware problem. Send it back to Hrizon Hobbies for an exchange.

Hey all, just got my first losi brushless system for my MRC. Two things:
1) it doesn't say in the documentation (that I can find) but sometimes when I change parameters with the QPC or software I have to recalibrate the the throttle or the unit just sits idle. Is this normal?
2) is there a trouble shooting guide on the LED's and what their status means? Also, what does the lipo cut-off do when it is triggered (just so that I know what to look out for)?
Thanks!

Just ordered a 9400kv esc/motor combo for my mini desert buggy and I have a few questions.
1 - i have the stock 7.2v nimh battery that came with the buggy (and i just ordered a couple more). Will these batteries work with this motor?
2 - what is the difference between the 9400, 8200, and 7400 brushless motors? Should i have ordered a different one?
3 - does the USB cable to program the ESC come with the kit or am i going to need to shell out some more cash?
4 - i have the 13t - 16t pinion gear set currently running the 14t with a reedy 19t modified motor. Which pinion should i use with the brushless?

The combo pack came today and answered most of my questions :) I am curious though why the 9400 requires the smallest pinion gears and appears to be the least efficient. Will this lack of efficiency result in run times similar to a brushed motor or should I still expect longer runs?
Hello,
First of all, great stuff, I got myself a 8200 combo and it is super fast.
But I have a problem: when I press the throttle fast then the current to my reciever is cut off and the whole system seems to "reboot". I am using the original 7,2 1100mah batteries and have tryed both 27 and 2.4 radio systems.
When I work the throttle slowly, everything is ok, but any sudden movement just kills the power from esc onwards (reciever, motor, servo). I tryed limitiong the speed to 80% and set the cutoff to 4 and 3v, but it didnīt help.
Edit: everything is working again in 2-4 seconds - that is where the reboot comes from. And the system worcks perfect if it is not on the car.
Any info and response is welcome.
Mark.

I just got a mini-T (RTR), and of course it needs to be (way) faster to make me smile. Looking at the LOSB9561 7400kV Brushless kit. Will I need a new reciever? the ESC & reciever seem to be all one piece, and the speed controller on the kit appears to be only that. I also saw somewhere I might have to replace the steering servo, too? I know it's possible, youtube is full of videos of crazy-fast Mini-T's, I guess I was hoping for a direct replacement-type kit, coming from the OEM, but it doesn't look like the LOSB9561 is that. What's the correct combo? I'm currently running 1650mAh liPo.
