try speedysracingparts.com or rc4less for tires for these. some tracks run foams some run rubber , and go from there for your purchase. box stock slider classes usually run the tires that come with the slider.

On my Slider I have a Mamba Max 7700kv but changed my stock gearbox for a xxx-cr to handle the power. I would melt the stock diff assy.
As with the new diff that's out I will reinstall the stock trans. For tires I am running the panther step pins and reg spike front tires on 2.2 rims. The tires work real well with the power of the motor.
I did have to add weight to the front end to help in the turns.
I liked the chassis so much on the Slider I bought another one to run EDM class.
This is a older pic I have done some more decals to the EDM and it still has the old tires on it.
Another quick note is with owning both the Slider and XXX-CR I installed the CR front spindal assy so I can use tires between both cars. As you all know the less you have to bring to the track the better.

Hey RC Work Shopp what mods did you have to do the rear end to get the XXX CR trans to fit?
I did not have to do to much. You can take the whole rear end from the CR or BK as one assy and put it on the slider chassis. Two of the chassis hole will line up with the CR assy and you just have to drill two more holes. For the upper support from the trans to the chassis I just used two threaded rods and link ends. I will post pic. There is a little grinding but not much. I have done real well racing this year and O trans problems.

Well as you know they say it can only run 7.2 volts. If your running a 2c 7.4 volt give it a try. Are you running the stock motor? If you are I think you will be fine. You will just need to get a Novak Lipo alarm to make sure you don't drop the voltage to low.

I've been successfully racing my Slider for a long time now and I've started to think about trying a rear sway bar to free the car up on high bite tracks... From what I see, there are no provisions built into the design for mounting a sway bar, and no one (that I can find) offers one. Before I spend a lot of time "reinventing the wheel", I thought I'd ask if anyone has already done this...????
Pictures?

Thanks -- the front swaybar mount (and hingepin link) is a trick mounting idea for the rear sway bar -- I was having a problem visualising a mount like the XXX rear mounts, because that was going to require a standoff or something as a base...
The rear A-arms will need a hole drilled for the link to the sway bar unless I switch to use BK2 rear A-arms (#9800 I think). which already have the holes for the sway bar link's ballstud...

i would definetly check the speed control, i bought a nib slider for dirt cheap and found it to be one of the first ones w/ the bad speed control. i had the same issues and i was just running around the living room. so thats the first thing i would check. if the esc is small and only has 1 heatsink than that is probaly the problem

Can you add weight? I know it's box stock rules but you might be able to. Have you tried to adj your springs back off the adj. What about camber have you played with that. Also see if you can change shock oil.

In general, anything you can do within the rules to lower the car will help. Ideally you could put some limiters in the shocks to reduce the ride height...
You might also check the camber on the right side tires -- if you don't have enough negative camber (leanng "in" at the top), the car will roll up on the outer edge of the tires and "catch"/flip...

The easiest way is to just cut some fuel tubing to about 1/4" (or whatever length works) and install it under the piston on the inside of the shock...

DirtOval.com rules state:
Maximum width: 10.000” (foam tires), 10.250" (rubber tires)
The width of my 1/10 Slider with foam tires is 10.5" across the front tires, the rear is OK, I need to narrow the front a half of an inch.
Question, are the a-arms for the High Roller LOSB 2027 shorter than the Slider's a-arms LOSB 2007?
Can I use the front center block and a-arms from the XXX CR LOSA 6081 & LOSA 4129 and are they shorter, will the center block hole pattern match up, are the arms shorter?
The track I run at has a 13.5 Brushless 19 turn rule. To get enough speed running a Novak 13.5 I had to gear way up. I ended up using an Associated 75T spur gear with a 35T pinion. Now if I can get the Slider to fit in that 10" wide box, I can compete within DirtOval.com rules!!!
This setup is awesome to race! TQ-ed and won the Main!

The advantage you will have with the ball dif is not shreeding the gears out and saving time & money in the long run compared to the stock.I think i have spent more time with car torn apart or waiting on parts from local hobby shop more than i have raced mine...LOL Now i got the ball diff in my slider it has held up well in my slider with a mamba max/5700kv.It sure has handle's alot better with power on than with the stock.

Our club runs a stock slider class using the stock motor , stock esc , and NiMH 3600 batteries. We have been having a lot of motor failures. The brushes seem to wear quickly and then the positive side always wears out first and the "spring" breaks , which makes the motor completely useless. I understand these motors are stock , but on the avergae we are only getting 6 - 7 race days out of them . I think that is very poor . Anyone else? How about any Losi Tech guys , any other complaints , suggestions on this problem?

What? The motors are sealed and you can't change springs or brushes.
Yes , they are cheap , but they shouldn't wear out after less than two months of racing . We have to use these motors in the box stock class. We have ghone through well over 10 motors in the last three months of racing .

Ok, so I confess. I did not ever run my slider with the original electronics. I started with cheap 2.5G radio and 21.5 brushless motor. Sounds like in the long run I'd be saving money. the brushless motor seem to work forever so long as you don't over heat them.
Good Luck!

At the track I race at, which is a flat indoor oval rcp foam track. The sprint car class is what i would call and open mod class. The only rules are it must be a factory produced sprint car, have a 3 gear tranny and a 13.5 brushless or 19turn brushed motor. Pretty much anything eles goes.
There are mostly sliders this class and I just recently switched to one from a Cobra. For the Slider setup most run RC4less foams for tires. We also have ofset the chassie by putting high roller A arms on the right side. Theses are the same just longer. The right rear shock then monts on the back side of the tower and A arm then.
Now for fixes, all metal gears in the tranny are a must, also if you use a dremmel and make a small hole in the top of the gear box you and then oil the tranny. This make the as free moving as possible and I have not broke one yet. As far as the front in plastics just dont hit the wall or put the metal parts on. To help not getting tangled up or in a wreak replace the nerf bars with some metal ones. These can be made from some rod stock from the hobby store. My go just past the tires, so when I graze the wall Its the nerf bar not the car that takes a beating.
This is what we have found that works on our high bite flat oval track. Oh and I am a terrible speller and I know it.....**** happens.

I am now running Johns BSR foams for dirt oval. Most are running RC4less foams. I dont think anyone runs rubber anymore. A few guys run pan car tires with a pan car adapter which I have tired them and dont like it. Tire dope is needed for the RC4less foams, I use custom works tire dope the night before and as the track warms up during the day and gets tighter.

I just started running my car on Saturday. it was the first time on the track. I have installed the Sportwerks spindles and B4 wheels with pink tapers on the front.
I put a ball diff and cvd's in the rear. I am running truck mc compound suburbs in the rear.
the tire wheel combo looks very realistic and performed great.
I am running the stock oil and springs but have changed locations.
I am running a Novak Ballistic 10.5 geared 30/75
I TQ'd and won the the A main. There were 95 entries.

I just purchased a brand new slider from my local hobby shop. I was under the impression that some of the gears are metal, what gears/tranny/cvds etc do I need to upgrade to so that the drivetrain does not break.
PS took some hot laps with it was pretty fast out of the box.
Thanks Dan

Reading through some of the post I've noticed that we can swap front end components from the XXX-CR to the slider. could somebody please tell me what all needs to be changed out. I have a rough idea but I just wanna make sure. Thanks for the help.
How durable is the slider? I have read about problems with the diffs...........
ok RobE do you know if the transmission gear kits are all metal or plastic. I have heard that the new parts bag of gears is metal but it certainly looks like brown plastic. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Word is that they are being discontinued. But come on LOSI, These cars are great and while you have to make $ on the products you produce, then build a BND, roller without electronics, or a kit (hey! remember those!) My twins (7yrs old) and me race them weekly at our local track and we love them.
To the guy who just bought one (didn't think to look at the post date stamp), I think they are putting a steel powder coated main gear and aluminum idler. That pretty much means the aluminum will eventually get chewed up by the cast part, but they are pretty tough compared to the plastic main gears that they first came out with.
Our class/club doesn't allow sliders to be "frankensteined" with non-slider parts and requires slider tires all the way around. Imagine that! a Stock class that stayed stock! (okay, I lied, we can but 17.5 brushless motors in them and non-adjustable speed controls.)

The track I run at is starting a Street Stock Class and I am wonting to convert one of my sliders over. We have to run the Mcallister Camaro Street Stock #264, Monte Carlo #268
bodies. Is there a front and rear bumper that will fit without a whole lot of modifying?
Thanks

we run a sclm class at our local track and we use the losi slider tires as our spec tire. there are a few guys using the scb as latemodels and have them on it. so I believe all you would need to do is pick up a set of xxx stadium truck wheels and your good to go

Any news on of Losi is going to be making a new Slider. They are very popular at our track and I wanted to get one, but nope; discontinued. You now can't even get a lot of the parts, especially the roll cage.

Can some one tell me how far apart the header mounting screws are for the Slider? I need center-to-center measurement where the header would bolt to the engine. Make Sense? LOL
TIA!

I have been a Losi owner since 1988. When I used to go to the World Hobby Show, Pops and Jr. were always friendly, honest, and willing to communicate their future plans. Recently, I have not been able to get any answers out of Losi on the 1/10 Slider question. The team drivers are always quick to respond to me on this forum for other items, but nothing on this topic. Horizon does not respond either. We have new guys looking to join our dirt oval track and cannot find a used slider. I told them to watch the forums and ebay. The silent treatment we are getting currently from the manufacturer is not impressing anyone.

I have three sliders that ive purchased off ebay used. Iv put Novak brushless 10.5 motors in all of them and have them geared to where they will fly! I alwase win at r local track with them. All have the aluminum upgrade kit and one of them the kit is purple (very rare). Im going to be selling two of them on ebay. I also e-mailed losi a wile ago and asked if they were going to be making them again. They said possibly. I also herd from are local track owner they might be coming out with a 1/8th scale slider.
