Was just checking to see if it is normal to have the clutch bell leave marks on the fuel tank while running, its not actually hitting the tank but the heat and maybe when flexing just barely leaving marks on the tank.

JBURCH- From my experience this is pretty normal not sure if anyone on here has a trick or solution I don't know about for it but mine does the same Im pretty sure its due to all the flex in the chassis.

I thought so was just checking, I just put a small piece of aluminum tape around that corner to help it out some, just in case I have a clutch bell problem it wont punture the tank.
Thanks for the replies
Only time I get it, is if the CB screw works loose
i glue a thin peice of carbon fibre to the back of the tank to prevent it wearing through

you mean you bought a Matrix tank protector then copied the idea for you other cars. :p
Its a super easy way to ensure your tank will never get punctured from a failed clutch bearing. :)

I see grease from the bearing on my tank sometimes, but never get a rub unless something blew up.
The one thing that freaks me out is the 2 scrapes or small dots on that side of the tank. It must be from the molding process and makes me think my tank got punctured. Look at a new tank and you'll see them.

I get this problem all the time, but I run the mugen clutch and the engine is 2mm further forward. I've never had it go all the way threw the tank though.

the clutch bell marks on the tank are normal. You would be amazed how much the chassis' flex on 1/8 offroad cars. As long as the bell doesn't penetrate the tank at all you are good to go.

the rubbing problem can be even more prone if you run in the "forward" position like i do in truggy...I had to clearance a bit more for the bell as there were small nicks from where the bell was touching under extreme flex....Also the KH motor mounts need to be modified to allow the Picco/JPX/LRP.21/Orion basically all the motor's that use the picco block....as it was touching and not allowing the motor to sit in place....i contacted Jim at KH about it and he ensured me he would correct the issue...here's a pic for what it's worth
