Hi there< im getting back into racing after taking a few yrs off. I recently bought a MF2 and have raced it twice already. I like the truck but was curious if the xxxtcr is a better truck and if so how?

"Better" is hard to say... they are "different", yet they share many parts. The longer chassis of the TCR makes it more stable, but some prefer the reponsiveness of the shorter MF1 and MF2... The MF2 tranny is 2.56:1 -- neither good or bad, but it can make it hard to get the gearing you need for a 17.5 or 13.5 brushless on big tracks -- the 2.43:1 of the TCR helps with gearing those motors and it has the new design CR diff rings, which seem to make for a much longer lasting diff between rebuilds. The front and rear A-arms, shocks, shock towers, etc. are the same for the two trucks, so nothing to prefer there... The new TCR body is nice, but some prefer that wide body of the MF2...

Sorry to answer with a non-answer, but it really is a "driver preference" thing...

The XXX-TCR is a refinement with some great new features like verticle rear ball studs for roll center changes and QC rear wheels.

The MF2 is a very capable truck through and shares many of the features of the TCR (or the other way around if you choose to look at as the MF2 came out first!)

There is extra adjustability in the TCR that should help you futher tune in your setup but the MF2 is still a VERY capable truck.

I have and they work great. The only issue I've found is that the nut will back out...so make sure you check it before each run to be on the safe side.

I put some thread lock on the nuts the first time I use them. Just a little is all you need. After doing that never had to do it again and never had one back off. They work great!

Hey thanks for the info on thee qc adapters for the MF2. What front axles do you use AD2's? or is there a special axle that i will have to purchase?

You need these front axles as they are the only ones with the correct spacing for the QC wheels.

For the MF2 you want this kit to adapt the wheels. Still uses a nut and no levers but this setup works great!

You should be able to get away with using the CR rear hubs with this setup if you want verticle rear ball studs!

do the cr hubs work? i thought the axles were to long for the mf2

You can use the buggy hubs. You cannot use the TCR alum hubs as you would need to use the TCR drive shafts and axles and the axles are too long.

so what your saying is that you can use the xxxcr rear hubs, mf2 axles and driveshafts with the qc adapters?

Yes. Only thing you change is the MF2 VLA hub to the CR (buggy) VLA hub.

If you replaced the entire rear end (from the shock tower back excluding the arms) you can convert the MF2 to the TCR. The only other thing you would be missing is the longer TCR chassis. To be honest though the MF2 is a great truck still. For the cost of replacing the rear end you could probably get a new TCR and sell the MF2 and be in it for the same kind of money.

You can replace the front axles and get the rear QC adapters to use the QC wheels. If you want verticle ball studs in the rear use the buggy CR hubs.

I have both trucks. I switched the rear hubs on the MF2 for the adjustibility. Personally, I think the higher ratio GEN II tranny has better punch than the GEN I tranny for the truck. Seems like I can clear jumps a little better if their is a little approach with the MF2 over the TCR. I don't race 17.5 stock, so gearing issues haven't come up. The MF2 works very good, I would not spend the money for the CR until they come out with QC for both front and rear.

I set toe by looking down on the car and getting it as close as I can buy eye. If you have a big enough set of calipers you can measure the front of the tires and the back of the tires as this should be the same number. That is the easiest way I know to set front toe in an offroad car.
