I've got a speed t that has probably 5 packs through it, it is my daughters (9yr). It is about a year old and the second ESC maybe has maybe 2 packs. I dusted it off and tried it and when you go full throttle it "skips".. like hesitates real fast but not all the time. seems better as it gets closer, but anything 20 feet and beyond it is worse. So I checked all connections, it has Deans and gold mamba connectors and they are fine. I change the motor to a 5700 mamba, same thing. Try 3 fully charged 2s lipos (8.30v) still the same. changed batteries in the controller, same. Pluguged it into the lap top and all settings are right... Not really sure. One thing weird I have not noticed before is that when you first turn the car on the tires go in reverse for a split second. Not really sure what to do next, what do you guys think???

Rog929,

What version of firmware are you running? Does the second ESC do the same thing?

I'll check version in a bit. The second ESC was fine for awhile then just started doing this. First ESC would just not go in reverse. but worked fine other than that.

Did you calibrate the ESC to the controller when you swapped out for the 2nd ESC?

yes I did. It worked fine for awhile...

Range issues are normally radio related. Is the reciever wire still attached? You may have a bad crystal?

Do you have a different Tx & Rx you can try out? Maybe rebind the Speed-T set again?

Everything has been swapped out, except for the radio system.

2 Different Motors (4800kv and a Mamba 5700kv)
2 different ESC's
Using 3 different battery packs. (assume a good C rating at least)

The comment "seems better as it gets closer, but anything 20 feet and beyond it is worse."

Makes me think it's a radio related issue. Is the Rx antenna near any other wires?

I had a range issue with a Losi 2.4Ghz radio I put in a Slash. I made a little stubby antenna to get it vertical, and it eliminated the problem.

However Spektrum system vehicles tend to just sit there when you have a range problem. I had to get closer to the vehicle to get control back when I had a problem.

I'll switch out the radio when I get home and see what that does. Thanks.
