I get asked from time to time about the easy way to change clutch shoes and springs on the clutch used on the L8IGHT. Quite honestly in all my years of racing nitro cars the
8IGHT clutch is about as easy as it gets. Check out the video done by Gary Katzer at http://www.losi.com/Articles/Article.aspx?ArticleID=1974.

Great video. Once you get used to the differences of the LOSI clutch they can be changed out pretty quick.

Sam, I have been running two carbon and two alum shoes for close to two years now and never had any issues with breakage and if you are running oval I think you will find we get very low wear compared to other clutches. I can get months out of a set of shoes.

What springs are you running Sam? I cant imagine what is going on. We do run .28s on occasion but we run the same soft springs and have had no issues. ????? What do the retaining bolts look like meaning are they straight, are they worn a little, how much loctite are you using and could the loctite be getting onto the carbon shoes during assembly softening them up? Loctite does mysterious things to plastics and metals. Maybe its affecting the shoes in an adverse way? Could you send me some pictures? I will not be back on till after work tomorrow night so bear with me please.
