Hello all. I am looking into getting a used Mini LST2 and was just wondering how fast and easy to drive they are? I just sold my nitro Revo 3.3 and just need some type of rc to control my fix.

So nobody knows how fast they are or how they handle????

well I am just wondering as I have heard before that the LST2 is slow and everyone is trying to make it faster. I know that my Revo with the big block in it was fast enough and just wondering in comparison.

I bought one for my wife last month and with a 2s Lipo and stock gearing it does like 35ish. Its a cool truck with alot of nice features out of the box, But for the money i think u can get something better. We and a few others on here have also had some issues with the servo's stripping gears. Ive seen some suggestions that u can mod it to fit a 1/10 servo or just go with some metal gear servos but having to dump money into something right out of the box isnt very appealing. But all that aside its a neat little truck. Hope this helps.

I still say it goes about 30-35 with a 2s Lipo. Im not sure how fast it goes with the NiHm battery we never even charged ours and tried it. Once again hope this is some help.

I picked up a MLST2 Limited Edition, the one that came with a 2s Lipo. I haven't clocked it but seems like it's goes around 20mph when in comparison to my other minis. Like I said, I didn't clock it but it def does not appear to be going that quick. To clarify I'm only running the stock 2s that came with it, it's a 1000mAh. I may just end up clocking it after all to be sure.

The truck def is geared more for torque than speed, that's for sure. If you do end up getting it, pick up the optional sway bay kit for like $6. It's well worth it. If you wanna see the difference there's vids on youtube that shows how it handles with and without the sway bars.
Such an improvement.

We got the 2s 1650 Mah LiPo so ours should be running at the same speed. If you do clock it let us know the results as i think everyone is interested :D. Ive heard if you put in a brushless and make it 2WD it's insanely fast but its appeal too me was definetly the 4WD and torque. Im gonna check out those sway bars u suggested for that price i dont think u can go wrong.

Yeah, I would recommend the sway bars to everyone. It get's rid of that problem with 3 wheel action when your turning sharply. Should be less roll over's. Before that it was like driving a big roller skate. I heard of a lot of people when switching to brushless they put some locker center diff or epoxy it to lock it up. But you're right, that's why I got the MLT2, I wanted a mini with 4wd and torque. Don't wanna give that up just for the sake of speed.

I'll get a speed test on it and let you guys know since I'm still running the stock gearing and tires.

Okay, so I tested it last night. I didn't know they were this slow, but I got several recordings at 15mph. That's on a bone stock MLST2 LE with the 2s lipo that it comes with.

I know it's not built for speed, but I'm hoping that I can get a little more speed. Gonna see if I can increase the pinion sizes, drop the spur size or both. Just want a little more speed, but not ready to convert to brushless just yet.

Be Carefull of motor over heating when messing around with the spur and pinion.

Wow... that is alot slower than i thought. Im gonna throw my brushless in mine and see how it does with the 4wd.

On 2nd thought, you're right. I won't mess with it unless I change the motor. But I'll prob end up leaving it stock until something breaks. It's still a good car for running in the house where 15mph is plenty fast.

One thing that I'm not happy about is that I've been real kind to the truck, haven't abused it or taking it off any jumps and I've already bent 2 rear drive cups, both times it was the driver side. Basically the shaft part with the threads to mount the wheel nut, that part get's bent and the tire will be totally out of balance.

Since I replaced it twice and haven't even remotely bashed the truck, it surely seems like a weak part of the truck. At least for mine anyways.

Hmm, Ive only had to replace the part you described on mine once, and it was because my little brother thought it was a good idea to stick his foot in front of the truck at full speed. Broke the rim, and the shaft was weakened and broke shortly after. The centers are more of a problem for me. the outdrives get worn out and expand over time.

Also, someone mentioned locking the center diff? Most people do it so that theey can either accelerate faster without the power dumping to the front wheels, or they just want some sweet wheelie action. lol
Mine actually broke though, so i just filled it up with epoxy.
