Hi all, I am New to the Losi forums and products. Not sure if this belongs in the crawlers or micro forums. Mods please move if needed.

I Just got my Losi Micro Crawler this evening. This thing is a blast. Very fun and can conquer some things you would not expect from a 1/24th crawler.

I have ZERO complaints (so far) but I am never one to leave well enough alone…after running one pack through it I managed some quick “tweaks” and have some others planned.

Hey it’s for fun right?

Anyway, I call them tweaks as they can be easily undone and returned to stock format.

As you will notice none of these are tweaks revolutionary and have been applied for years to larger scale RC crawlers.

Similar to the 1/18 MRC this 1/24 seems a lil top heavy. To attempt to improve to a lower CG I have:

Relocated the stock NiMH batt to the front servo (which is on the front axle). Just a bit of body rub if both front springs compress evenly…none during articulation though.

Next I put ¼ oz. sticky back lead weights inside the rims on all four corners. These fit really well with just a small trim/notch of the corners of the lead square. As you can tell by the picture that this is not very pleasing to the eye. I plan to counter sink the center of the lead square to allow them to recess further into the rim without hitting the wheel nut. Also a better job of notching or grinding should be done as well as a coat of paint or some black tape to make them match the truck.

I ran this set-up and it works very well (worked well before too).

My next tweaks are to get a LiPo batt (increased run time and more wheel speed)…maybe even one for a micro DT if I can make it fit….

Anyway…I just wanted to share my new rig. I hope you like...I do!

Hi i have one of these trucks on hold at my local hobby shop and can't wait till it comes in. And was wondering if the rims were actual working bead locks so that maybe i could take the tires off and fill them with metal bbs to add wait to the tires.

As far as I know they are "simulated" bead locks...similar to the ones on the MRC if you are familiar with those.

I would say you could get the tires off some how to get some weight in there...not sure...I will not be the first to do this.

Thanks,

Thanks........after u added the wait to the wheels did the wheels stay planted cause in the videos online the suspension seems to heavy for the light truck.

Thanks for the response

The truck seems a bit more stable but it may be all in what you are used to. This thing is small and will spill over easily but to me that's half the fun keeping it planted with some tweaks and driving skills.

The suspension may indeed be a bit stiff but it does articulate well when needed. I think it will loosen up some after some drive time. I am sure ride height adjustments and spring rate tweaks will help some.

I believe it is possible to improve this rig, but only because we are fanatics about it. We are seriously splitting hairs here. This thing is tiny and Losi has done a great job making it very capable right out of the box.

To me half the fun is driving my RC's and the other half tweaking/improving for performance...I do not build shelf queens or add aftermarket parts because the look cool...they need to be functionally better.

Thanks,

:( Don't you think the music on that video will offend the younger members of this forum? Cool, but offensive. I personally (at 52 years of age) don't care.

How do i find the lead weights you have in the tires? Or is moving the battery enough to work?

Aren't those Losi self stick chassis weights. But those weights are rectangular in shape. But you can cut them to make them square.

Im not sure, Im farely new to the rc world.. Ive had a few cheap rc toys in my younger years. I now have the losi 1/24th mini crawler and im trying to mod it the best i can so that it will crawl better.. It rolls quite easily.
