im completely new to the forum... im just announcing that i just recieved my losi 8-t rtr from horizon... i actually got it using a credit from a bad truck i bought new last month... all i have to say is this thing is absolutely SICK!!!!! ive never owned something as fast and smooth as the losi eight t 2.0 rtr.... its nasty !!!!.

anyhoo, i have encountered a few issues already that i believe should be addressed by losi/adam with the truck...
1. the truggy should just flat out come with the damb receiver battery charger... i bought 1 for $7.99... cost would be like 2 dollars... is that a big deal to throw in a 800 dollar truck kit?
2. the truck, before even using it,needs lexan splash gaurds in front of the rear a-arms... it collects alot of junk there and clogs up with grass/dirt.leaves.ect... cost, well, pennies $...
3. the carb is set super super rich from the factory, any average joe is not going to know what to do.... the motor bound up the first time i tried to start it, and it got stuck on top dead center... i removed the glow plug, but had to pull the head off, and run the truck on the starter box to break in the piston and sleeve, before i commenced starting it...
4. the 6th tank of fuel(using odonnell 20%) i noticed the carb slide binding... it just wasnt opening all the way... the way the linkage is, its a little off kilter and pulls at a diagnal and not straight in and out... moving the carb slightly or even a little longer servo horn would fix the problem... i also lubed the carb with gun oil, its super light weight and made for precision stainless metals...
5. now this last comment is the whole reason i posted here... the throttle servo is dead by the 7th tank of gas... i dont know what happened, but its dead...switched the steering servo in the throttle location and the output of the receiver works... again, i dont know what happened... it just quit... at first i thought it was a fail safe, but its not... any suggestions? replace with what? does it have to be digital?

I hope you seriously didn't break your engine in that way otherwise it is probably junk. Should have followed the manual especially if this is your first nitro.

no it isnt junk.it was for a few seconds. thanks for your input thow. i think it was better than taking some pliers to the flywheel and freeing it up, right.? ive been into rc for 20 years now. im ok, i read the manual anyway, before i clipped the zip ties holding the truck in the box.

i feel like a kid in a candy store about the eight t 2.0 ... as a consumer, im very pleased

I wouldn't have removed the head. You should have 1) heated then engine before starting. And duh the carb is very rich because you have to break in the engine. On a new engine you need to heat it with a heat gun or hair dryer to about 200 degrees before ever trying to start it. Doing what you described will prematurely wear the pinch out and you will probably end up chasing a tune because the engine may leak air. Even doing what you did you should have put WD40, after run oil, or fuel in before turning it over and the starter box. You may not have noticed any damage but when you finally get a gallon on the engine it could very possibly lose compression suddenly or not hold a tune very well. I hear that all the time, "I've done it for 20-30 years I am experienced", well that doesn't mean you know what you are doing. Oh well, glad you are having fun with it. It's not really meant to bash which sounds like what you are doing but to each his own.

i did lube it before i turned it over, everything is fine. if the motor pops, which they all eventually wear out, ill buy a new one, or experiment with other choices.. i know why the engine was super rich, i have about 6 tanks threw it and its still not broke in yet. its getting cold where i am, so it was SUPER SUPER rich...i know its not ment to bash, im trying to break it in rolling in and out of the throttle... the street is too busy for me to go in the road. i know about the heat gun trick. i did that and like i said , the motor was really tight.
i kinda feel like im under the gun here. its my stuff, i have my way,i have the experience not to mess things up, it was a last resort the way i did it . its breaking in nicely, i havent had any issues with the engine except a dead throttle servo. the trucks a blast, and im happy. stays at 190-200 degrees after entire tank and no airflow after i tuned it for the environment im in. nice even flow of smoke all the way threw throttle. cleans up after 3-5 seconds of being full throttle and hard on it... i would say its near perfect..

now im going to go buy some new servos now...buh bye

nitrojunkie- There should be two phone numbers in the manual for customer service. If you give them a call and explain the problem, they will be happy to send you a new throttle servo. Your truck should have included a wall charger for the receiver battery.
